Hey guys,

I have been reading up on all of the past retrofit threads for a few days now and have just a couple simple questions. If I buy the APC Gen II Projector headlights (like six97GT?) what projectors will fit in the low beam hole the easiest and give the best light? I'm trying to decide on HIDTECH which ones to get. The S4's, M3's, or A6's??? All of which should be ECE, correct - for best cuttoff.

Right now, I'm thinking the S4's - smaller, but the more I read it seems like more use the A6 and M3 ones? My question is, how large is the whole in the APC projectors (cause this will dictate which projectors I buy?

Also, I have the tech article for HID's with ebay projectors but no one to my knowledge has done a write up on the APC ones. I guess, if there is a write up, can you link it in the thread and possibly give me an idea of how hard it is to mount them in there? What cuts modifications need to be made (cut larger hole? cut back off to fit projector, etc?)

Having retrofitted the APC Gen II lights with Hella projectors, let me advise you NOT to work with these headlights. Poorly designed, they have no sealed housing like most reflector/aftermarket projector lights. There's the lense, the plastic behind the lense, and then the 3" projector, which is BUILT into the shroud. Check out the photo I have of the gen2 housing rear.

The only way to make it work is to disasemble the APC projector, and then merge/butcher the HID projector so that it fits into the chrome shroud/cylinder (seen in the photo). In the end, I have a setup with minimal adjustability, and it still isn't sealed/water tight. As I said, these lights are poorly designed.

IMO, go with any other projector style headlamp. As far as I know, the others feature sealed housings that are much more ideal for a retrofit. I only chose Gen2 apc for it's look, but did regret my choice later on. Glad to see your up for real HID, good luck! :thumb:

Not sure what his user name is on the board but i think it was AZdave i believe. His projector with Retrofit HID Projectors looks good and i'm planning on doing it as well.

Here is his website how he did it. http://www.rcaz.com/rcaz/sub indexes/E55_install/index.htm

oh yeah by the way he did ebay projectors to hids and he did sick rear with leds. If you see this keep up the good work man!

Thanks so much for the incite on the APC projectors. I had no idea they were so hard to work with. Now that I know this I will plan on using the A4/S4 ECE Valeo projectors with 4300K HID's and the ebay projectors used in the ebay how-to linked below.

To all of you guys that have done the retrofits, I give my praise!! I'm just hoping I can do it alright :thumb: Hopefully I'll buy and attempt this by mid January sometime.

I'll be honest, at first, I really just wanted to stick some 8000K HID's in some projectors but after reading on HIDPlanet.com I saw a whole new light :rocks:
