:dsm: I am looking to slap on a Blitz body kit to my 99 GST Spyder. I have never done a kit before. Any one who has done this, let me know what I am in for. Is it really all that hard of a kit to install. I got a guy in town that can paint it for me really cheap. So that's not really an issue. Anyways, I am just lookin to see what i am up against. I have a lot of mechanical background and I am not just any stupid idiot. Take a look at my gallery and let me know what you think of my ride.:dsm:

thats a very nice car, very clean. not dissing your car or anything but I think a blitz will..........well I'll just say I wont look at your car the same.

anyway this should help http://www.geocities.com/blue2gnt/Body_kit_install.html
it helped me when I had to take the bumper off. the hardest part is gettin the screws under the light. good luck. I suggest you dont put the screws under the light that hold the bumper back in. It would be much easier if u need to take the bumper off again. I just need to take off 6 screws and my front bumper slides out.

how much you would sell your OEM bumper for by the way?

well i will tell you one thing all body kits do not kit right. i am having a guy put mine on now and he has had to do a lot of custom work to it. he said that he will never do body kits again because of my car

I was wondering what kit and where did you get it from? My friend just got a blitz kit for her spyder. She got it all painted and only the rear bumper fit. The side skirts and front did not fit. Is there something special needed to do for the kit?? I am wondering because the place will not take the kit back and now she is stuck with a body kit that wont fit.

LET ME ASK YOU ALL THIS. DO YOU THINK THAT IT WOULD BE A BAD MOVE TO PUT ON A BLITZ. OR SHOULD I JUST KEEP IT CLEAN?. I AM HEARING A LOT OF NEGATIVE FEEDBACK ON DOING BODY KIT INSTALLS BY YOUR SELF.

Why the caps, are u yelling at me now?

is the blitz a bad move? yes
why is it a bad move? because most DSMers dont like to be associated with fast and the furious. when u hear blitz, what the first that comes to mind? a lime green eclipse with an aluminum wing and two bottles of nawws, the big ones. I really think the blitz is a nice kit, not too agressive, and it flows nicely with the car, just that its frown upon.

I like how your cars looks now. nice and clean.

I couldnt agree with you more. I am not a big fan of body kits. I was wondering why my friends didnt bolt right up like the stock bumper should.

Most kits do not fit perfectly and alot of custom work is usually required, which explains why it is so expensive to have one professionally installed. IMO, a nice kit, installed properly looks awesome. If you have some body work experience and alot of time, you might want to try it yourself...otherwise, I would say save up some extra money and have it done right.

you can look at min, I have the blitz kit on, I really wish I would have kept it stock. you wouldnt think that you would get sick of people comming up to you and revign u there engins but it gets really old. my front bumper fit perfect its a blitz urethane from neo. the sides had to be shortened and I had to cut the rear bumper in half and take out about an inch and a half although you cant tell. mine was a reall pita becasue its a talon, cant tell now though. I do have the mods to beat most of the cars tha pull up next to me but, it does get old. I really wish I would have kept it stock
