I know exactly how you feel my car had been keyed twice both on the drivers side, luckily the first time wasn't that bad and I got all of it out, but the second time was down through the primer.
If your scratches arnt very deep I would wetsand them "2000 grit" then buff it out with some 3m rubbing compound.... Thats what I did the first time and i couldn't tell my car was ever keyed...well I hope I helped if you have an questions feel free to pm me...

what color is your car?? you can always use fingernail polish temporarily.. worked for me, but i have a black car.. fills in nicely too

if they arent that deep you can get them out with just buffing. Start with a heavy compound and see if that makes a difference. If it doesnt help with a heavy compound you will have to wetsand it which is a shitload of work. But then again if u arent familar with buffing or wetsanding i would take it to a few detailers and see how much it would be.

man, thats so fu@%ed up!!When ihad my 2g,some little kid keyed my car,I know it was a little kid because i could see his greasy little palms and fingerprints on the hood, man i wish i could of caught him!!i would of grabbed his little punk ass by the ear, called the cops and have his parents pay for painting my hood.My paintjob was 1 month old and it was black pearl with blue miniflakes,i tried to touch it up,but you could still tell.

i guess i add my keying in on this. my girlfriends ex boyfriend keyed my car when i slept over at her house the first time. he also slashed my tires. :nono: hankooks 18inch. i was pissed. i know it was him because she lives in a different town then me and no one else down there even knows me. i wish i caught him i would put a couple 9 mm in his a$$ the why i look at it if you got beef confront me not my car. thats a cowards way of getting someone back. :notgood: :dsm:

if they are real bad use a DA and 1500. then wet sand with 3000 then buff it then glaze it if they arent real bad. careful though with the 1500 going over edges and stuff it iwll cut right through the clear.

i dare you to try wetsand 1000 on your HOOD :tease: no seriously, i wetsanded 2000 and it scuffed the crap out of my clearcoat on the hood.. thankfully i have a CF now :thumb:

The trick is buffing after. Of course its going to look scuffed until you apply some polishing compound to it. You can wetsand with 800 grit even!

perhaps I just suck at buffing :boring: LOL

Trial and error. You need a decent power polisher to buff. I've got a Porter Cable with a variable RPM setting, it does the trick.

allright allright...if you can catch a finger nail on a the scratch then...that scratch is going to be there unless you highspeed buff(to move the paint around filling in the scratch) or repaint. Now for the other scratches I sudgest claybaring the area being sure to only use north/south and east/west movements. Also make sure the area stays WET while you clay bar a foot by foot sized area. Then I would take some mothers swirl remover/glaze also using the n/s e/w movements. Then finnaly buy the nicest wax you can find, I sudgest the meguairs next wax. Let me know how this turns out, good luck!
