I already know how to run wires for an amp, I've done it in quite a few cars before. My question is, where in the firewall can I get my 4ga wire through for my amp on my 96 tsi? I'd prefer to not drill any holes, or go next to the steering column. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, I'm going crazy without my bass!

have you tried running it from the engine bay, along the side into where the fender meets the door and down on the inside of the trim piece? or is the wire too big?

thats how i ran my 4 gauge wire. I ran it through the driver side fender.. It was a pain in the arse getting it through because its a little thicker than the space under the hood and fender but with a little elbow grease you will get it in.. Then i ran it under the carpet back into my hatch..

that's like the ghetto way of doing it...pretty easy to pinch the wire running it that way....I was hoping for some kinda grommet that goes through the firewall, but I haven't had much time to take anything apart to find one...any suggestions?

Mine is ran through the main engine harness grommet that is in the passenger footwell. Pull back the carpet and you will see the harness. the grommet is very large just punch a hole in it with a screwdriver or a pick or something then you can get the wire through the rubber and have it protected.

got any pics? I don't wanna go stabbing at random things...I see a couple things underneath the carpet, and I'm not 100% sure on which to go through....don't see any harnesses, just thicker wire loom, but like I said, I don't wanna just start poking holes...

Yea the thick wireloom is housing the wiring harness. There is a THICK rubber grommet that goes all the way around it. Pop your hood and remove your battery and batter tray and you will see where it comes into the engine bay. Once you see that you will see which part of the grommet you can put a hole through so you don't hit the harness on the engine side.

oh, ok...that's what someone else was trying to tell me, but he didn't specify anything...all he said was remove the battery and battery tray...thanks for the help...
