OK i have 2 questions.

First does the interior light "position" on a 2g sunroof car's dimmer switch actually have any function at all?

In most vehicles that last "notch" after max illumination turns on the overhead light.

I find it strange that it does NOT at least turn on the floor lights or map lights, but I have seen stranger oversights. My map and floor lights do turn on when I open the door, and of course the map lights turn on manually.

Unfortunately the illumination is terrible from the map lights, so if that position is connected at the dimmer but unused I was considering tracking it down to add a couple of small while leds to illuminate the rear seat area so I can find may son's hotwheels, or a dropped cup without having to break out a flashlight. I was also considering adding the floor lamps to the circuit so I can turn on the light and find things on the floor with out having to stop pull over and open my door to pick up something something in the passenger foot well.

Thnak you for any knowledge you can send my way. I am not sure if that switch works the overhead on non sunroof eclipses but I know it works on the A/S, jsut don't know if I have a problem wiht the car, or it is not conencted at all.
If anyone knows the wire color that would also be very helpful.

my dimmer switch in my car is pretty much as you put it useless... as for adding some more light you could tap into the small light that lights up your ashtry and snake a wire down to the bottom of your armrest and hide some white LEDS under there... or you could try and tap into the power chair wire and see if that works, i'm not sure if that's a constint power source or not and i don't think turning your lights on would light it up either because i believe it would always be lit...so your best bet would be the ashtry light for the floor and maybe the cig out lit for the map holders?...and maybe the 3rd break light for the back seat?

your switch (if it is the same as mine) should have 3 positions - on, off, and door - you want it set on door to turn on all the lights when you open the door

Tim: I don't have an overhead light, that is the problem.Only the map lights in the mirror, and the two entry lights on the floor that activate with the door opening and closing.

Flat tire:
thanks forthe suggestion on the other two lights but I use the cig lighter illumination/ashtray (same bloody light circuit as the dash) for my "don't care if they are constantly on with the lights" LEDs behind the console and in the center armrest storage area.

Lighting on hte front wells reflects the floor up onto the windows and makes it hard to see OUT at night. I also dont want brightricer lights illuminating my interior like some kind of drug dealer or showoff ion my late night drives or trips.

I really just wanted to find out if the dimmer switch's existing "interior" position turns on the interior lights on other 2gs, or just on A/S and if anyone knew if it was connected and powered on the 2g.

I've got a hard top 2g and it seems useless to me as well. It just keeps my dash lights exactly where I want them ROFL on bright.

So no interior lights on the hard top cars either

Only lights they have are underneath the rear view mirror which come on when the door is open or when you press the reading light button underneath. I don't believe mine come on when I use the dimmer switch. There is no dome light, adleast not in my GST. It's possible that the Stealth may have a dome light which the switch may have been designed for.

I know the avenger/sebring twins have our dash and i am pretty sure it works the overhead on those.

I guessI have a new project... :)
