P.S: 4G63, I used that Dupli-Color paint which you were addressing, worked like a charm! BUT if you wish to use it on plastics, be sure to get a nice plastic clear coat spray as well.

Check it out so far, I only have 1 seat done, but it took a while and I must say I'm satisfied with the outcome :) I plan on doing the drivers and backseats tomorrow. What do you guys think?

Comments welcome! :)

Looks good! Matches with the black on your dash. Looks a little light though, perhaps it needs a few more coats of paint maybe?

yeah sorry about that, thats the flash from the camera. to the human eye its a very nice and dark black :)

How did you paint the seats and what did you use? We just started re-doing the interior in my friends Talon. Its really sweet. Its going to be black and blue. Good luck man, keep the pics coming!

All you need is:
  • a nice hard fabric brush,
  • some dawn blue dish soap W/O Ammoneia,
  • some Dupli-Color Vinyl//Fabric Dye (you can easily get this at Auto-Zone or Wal-Mart)
  • and some masking tape to cover off the area you dont want to paint

Its all in all a pretty easy process, just take your time and make sure you really scrub the seat clean! The dye dries very quickly so once you have the tedious taping done, it shouldnt take long at all to get ther color you desire.

I'll post more pics when I'm done with what I can accomplish today :)

Looks Great! Has anyone tried that Duplicolor interior paint that you can use on vinyl, leather, plastic, and fabric? I was thinking about trying it out on my car, but I'd hate to spend that money ($5 bucks/can) and it not work worth a $hit. L8r. :talon:

looks very nice man...good work :thumb: i kinda want to do that to mine...but i think ill just replace the seats themself with racing seats or something...

i used the duplicolor interior paint...well the vinyl and fabric paint...but only on my doors...nothing like my seats or anything...used krylon fusion for the plastic pieces

isn't the fabric that you painted stiff now? I did this to my back seats and the black felt stiff and would not be nice to sit in.

Wow, the finished product looks GREAT :thumb: !
Did you wash your seats, if so, with what and how well? The seats in my car are awful dirty, but i can't afford to get them recovered, so this is my only option. However, I'm not going to put a lot of time into cleaning the seats if it's going to take WAY too much effort. Just a light cleaning won't be a problem, though. l8r :talon:

All you need really is some dawn soap, the kind without ammoneia, and a fabric brush. Just wash the seat with that for a little bit and then dab the nasty stuff off with some fresh water and a towel. thats all i did and you can tell a pretty big difference in color :)

as for the stiffness, yeah you can tell that the area dyed is pretty stiff and rigid, but you dont notice it when you're sitting in the seat. Hopefully the rigid-ness will wear down a bit as the seats see more use :thumb:

You can avoid the stiffness with a stiff brush. After each coat dries give it a good scrubing with the dry brush. This will loosen any overspray.Vacuum good to remove the dust you created with the brush. Then apply the next coat. dry and repeat until you have a nice soft surface.I have did this many times myself.
