Hey, I just ordered a new front Drift style bumper from Ground Dynamics for my '92 Talon and a few hours later I saw someone's picture on this site where the side skirts fit like crap. Now I'm worried. Has anyone else had problems with G.D. body kits?

Alot of times body kits dont fit right when you get them, no matter where you get them. You may have to do some fiberglassing to make them fit right. If you don't know how to do that, you could take it to a body shop/custom shop and have it done. Good luck

I shouldn't have a problem with fiberglassing; my brother makes fiberglass and carbon fiber under bodies for new vettes and vipers! I'm sure I'll get some help. Besides, I'm not getting a full body kit, just the front bumper, so it shouldn't be too bad. I'm still not really sure if the drift bumper will look right with the rest of the body panels on my 1g Talon though. I like the back bumper a lot, and the factory side panels are cool, too. Does anyone have pictures of a '92-94 Talon with the Drift style bumper only, without a complete kit? If so, I'd really like to see it!

Usually if you buy the less expensive kits is when you have the fitment problems, a good body shop should be able to handle it preety smoothly though.

Just about all sideskirts are a pain. I actually have a dealer account with ground dynamics and have ordered several kits from them and from other places in the past and they seem to be just as good as any others. I guess they just have trouble making molds that are perfect fits, but they straight up say not to attempt it unless you are good with body kits. They usually also come with good instructions for prep work and all that good stuff from Ground Dynamics. :thumb:

I was wondering about this today; do all the companies that make the body kits use the same molds? Because all of the 1g Drift kits are identical, just made by different people. Maybe it's just the way they trim the parts when they come out of the molds. If they cut and sand off too much, then it won't fit right. I honestly never heard of Ground Dynamics until they mentioned them on an episode of Pimp My Ride; they were putting a kit on an old Cavalier. Disgusting....but I looked up the site and their 1g DSM kits are really cheap, so I thought I'd give 'em a try. Me and my dad are probably going to do all body work except the paint itself; he owned his own body shop for 25 years, so it should look pretty good when we're done.
