my driver side of the car has some weird roughness on the paint, i dont want to scratch it, but when i do scrub it down the cloth gets really dirty quick, i think its brake dust cuz i was driving with grinding metal on metal brakes for almost 2 1/2 weeks, anyone know how i cna get it off, i tried polishing compound and car wash soap

Get some bugoff and spray it on there. It's not supposed to be hard on paint, but it will get out those tougher to clean spots in your finish.

You need to clay your car. Just go to the local parts place and get a claybar kit. Make sure you wax afterwards.

could be tar if you've driven over any newly paved streets - hard to see if you have a black car

i think i have somethin like that on my trunk lid. it is rough and the paint is a little dull, but i tryed waxing nothing happened, my friend told me to try clay also

This guy has the right idea. Clay your entire car, making circles as if you were waxing. Use plenty of soapy water as lubricant. Scuffing your paint would be bad. You'll be surprised at the ridiculous amount of "invisible" filth the clay lifts. Also remember that if you drop your clay on the ground, it's finished finished finished, period.
