ok i know that vnting to the atmoshpere can cause rich conditions and can cause problems with with surging and bucking everyone says how horribly bad it is but i still dont really know whats so bad about it can venting to the atmosphere actually cause any real problems or lasting damage or is it just aggrevating if i vented to the atmosphere forever and never got a vpc of fixed the surging problems will anything ever actually happen to the car ive never read of any damage actually coming about from the problem just useless insults directed at people that wanna do it so what if we like the sound, a bov sound is part of the fun of having a turbo so is the sound of a turbo spooling if we want to hear it why put us down i dont mind worse fuel mileage and issues between shifts but i am worried about real problems arising from venting to the atmoshpere can anyone tell me of any real damage or parts that had to be replaced as a direct result of venting to the atmosphere please dont respond if your just gonna bash me for asking yet another venting question

Man this topic has been beat to death... Anyway to answer yer question it doenst "hurt" yer car really, i had a hsk on my car for awhile worked fine ran perfect, some cars r different than others and react different to #@%#@%#@%#@%. thanks i didnt really think it hurt your car i have an Apex-i BOV it sounds aright to me

Would it be possible to move the MAS, say next to the TB? Then the air that was vented to the atmosphere would not be metered yet, fixing the rich condition between shifts?

This is a pretty outrageous idea... Is it really worth so much time and energy just to have a loud BOV? Don't get me wrong, I love creative thinking, but I just don't think having a louder BOV deserves as much attention as it gets by people in these forums. Let's use this creativity and energy for something that will actually make our cars faster, not louder.

A loud BOV is simply an "attention getter" - just like a super loud exhaust, or booming system, or 24 inch wheels, or 2 foot high wing, etc, etc, etc. No offense to the people who like these things, but it has nothing to do with bettering the performance of your car. This particular forum is for "performance" discussions. Please keep all things that don't pertain to performance in the "Non Performance" forum. Thanks guys.

I really like the turbo xs rfl. Loud as hell. I can't remember if the car I saw it on was vented to atmosphere or not tho. Not even sure if that one gives you any other choice. It has the horn, so isn't it a vent to atmosphere only? I don't see how it would be so loud otherwise. I agree, when I get a turbo kit, I want the bov to be heard. But, I want the car to run it's best. Not gonna blow anything up just for a sound. I think a little time spent to make it work better would be worth it. It's an important part of a turbo car, and why not hear it do its job?

I have a APEXi BOV vented into the atmosphere. Very loud, poor MPG(20mpg on freeway) every now and then I blow flames out. But no problems so far, had it for about 6 months.
Peace!
