a wing on a 1g?! ((shudder))

ok... here we go... the stock wing on my tsi has to go. its big and
plastic-ey. im sorry guys, realy i am, LOL. however, i think im stuck between 2 worlds, because while i dont like the stock one, i realy dont want to throw a awful looking rice bench on it. i was thinking of a compromise, maybe a 2g turbo wing would look good, anyone have any pics of one? like would it fit right? also.... in the back of my mind i kinda wonder what a 2g talon wing would look like... or even a stealth wing. has this ever been done before? pics? i rather go with a 2g wing to kinda keep it in the family. btw, the "keep it stock" commenters can stay home on this one, and yes, i checked the gallery, til like 1/2 way (wow, when'd we get so many members?). thanx for the help.:thumb:
 
Hey man thats cool that u want a spoiler for that! Im glad im not the only one who thinks the 1g spoilers are kinda #@%#@%#@%. But just as a warning I wouldnt go for the turbo wing from a 2g. its round and made just for the rounded body of the 2g. Have u ever considered a type R wing for the honda? its kinda boxy and spiffy lookin. just an opinion. good luck man!

This wing might be similiar to what Bryan is talking about. I have seen wings similiar to this on the new Celica GTS's with factory body kits. You need a stiff squared off wing not a round organic looking wing in my opinion. The 1st generation DSM cars are too boxy for organic/curvaceous style wings. The silver Honda in this link is the wing I am referring to.:dsm:

Secondly your car is really clean looking with the wheels black and a polished lip:rolleyes: I hate to say it but..... you really don't need a wing with such a nice combination going on but.......anyway:rolleyes: Definitely paint the wing you get black to go with the rest of the car. Whatever you do don't paint it white (IMO).

I have a 1992 Talon and it is Dark Maroon and I have a "Rice Bench" wing that is about 9 inches tall. I had a lot of naysayers say don'tOMG do it, but I did and it is sweet on a dark colored car. I don't even have 18's yet, but believe it or not I get looks and thumbs up from a lot of people, truck drivers, people on the highway and even muscle car guys:thumb: Think about getting a CARBON FIBER WING (IMO).
 
I don't know about the aftermarkey wings... Nothing is gonna look right. You might want to look into the 92-94 talon wing. It's nice & clean looking compared to the early talon & gsx wings. Here are a few examples of ones that I could find in the gallery.

Thats what I say. Try looking at the 90-91 gsx spoiler, it's much better than the talon one and it should bolt right up.
 
have you looked in to a the drag type wings they sit a littile bit hight then stock wing but not super high like the honda people like. i was thinking of maybe doing that to my car. just to do some thing different
 
i like that type r wing, thats prob the only after maket one i like so far... havent really looking into the drag wings....might just get a 92-94 for now till i decide.....
 
how about just painting it? I got mine painted and it looks 100% better then the stock black did.
 
try looking up the black widow 2 body kit for the newer prelude..the wing on it is tight..its like stock but more aggresive..i dont know of anyone who has one so ima try it out once i can cough up some extra cash and give it a shot..
 
There is a girl around here with a supra-style wing on her 92 gs. I've only seen her once driving by. Also included are the ever so popular, windsheild squirter lights, the blinking valve stem caps, and a decal which covers the entire rear window. If i see it again i will surely snap some pics for you all.
 
:dsm: You know that she isn't a hard-core street/racer/tuning enthusiast. She is like all the people that like the Fast & the Furious. They don't what to do. The just do what they like. As long as she isn't talking sh#@ about how fast her car is............:laugh: I would give her a break. When guys with really clean cars see ricey ones and goofy ricey ones..............I would just feel good that you have the "so called" better car and think nothing of them. Making fun of them is negative energy............especially if you already know your better/faster etc. Live and let live. :dsm:
 
:thumb: Good pictures. I like it. Color scheme is nice with the white stripes and white wing/wheels. Tinted GTS covers help too. A lot of people don't know why I get into design so bad, but I went to school for Industrial Automotive Design and I had many scholarships from Ford, GM and Chrysler in 1994-1996....................anyway I commend you for your style:dsm:

yeah man i like the rsx wings too so your not the only one and i always wondered how that would look on our cars..im just trying to look away from frekin 50 pound whale tails that have no place being on our cars..1st gens have no curves in the body to even match whale tails up right..now that makes me shudder..and i also would like to see how a nice really low apr wing would look on one of our cars too..maybe like 2 or 3 inchs tall..nothing like the one on the fast and the furious eclipse but hey different things look good on some cars..
 
92-94 talon tsi wings look great. i just popped off my shyty factroy 3 peice off my 90 GS. i put on a 92-94 tsi wing. it looks a lot, lot, lot, lot better than the lazy factory one.
 
that fiero wing is almost exactly what i had on my car. i liked it because, as mitsuspeed says, the stock looks like a**, and without 1 it looks like......its missing something. the wing put on top of the stock wing looks stupid though, yet, that is my opinion
 
you might consider a third gen supra wing. It's a boxier body style and might actually match the car better than all of these new round ones.
