leo stop messing with carbon fiber or what..i had planed on buying a bunch of stuff from him next month and his web sight is down .. anyone knows anything please let me know..

thats blows... i'm looking for his air bag cover and was going to get a few other items made

wow, he really stopped his company? thats a damn shame, he made extemely nice pieces for our DSMs.

I e-mailed a while back asking about a couple parts and they said they had an emergency in the family and had to close down. It sucks because they made some nice parts but family comes first.

That really does suck, I had a 1g arm rest cover from there and it was extremely badass. Unfortunately it went with the NT when i sold it :( I would really like another one.

wrd, i got the same reply

I wasn't going to post up any longer on DSM forums...mostly cause it's a "pride" thing...I just really hated to close down ya' know? Didn't want to have to answer alot of questions and such.
No, I wasn't the BEST composites fabricator out there but I did find a nice niche with my love (and hatred) of DSMS and tried to make the best parts I could. Keep in mind guys I never knew how to do molding and fabricating...I learned from reading and doing it. Some of you might remember my very first pieces that I made that were just laminated with clear coat poured on top...and of course we progressed to making plugs, molds and started vacumm bagging parts as well doing totally custom mold work. I feel sort of a personal loss with Carbonwerks since it was my creation and have seen some really sweet cars donning my work.
And I do thank everyone for their support and business over the years...but I do not think I will be opening up any time soon. I still have some orders that I am SLOWLY (some customers are reading I am sure) finishing. But alot of folks on here were long time customers and I do feel I should give some explanation. I will keep it simple as it is what it is...

*Basically after 11 years with my wife decided she needed time apart and left. That kinda put my mental state in a sucky dispostion...but I actually stated to get more work done...odd. None the less my mind is now preoccupied with other things personally of course.
*Next, I have my younger brother who comes to live with me for awhile since the wife and son are gone. Get this, wakes up one day and decides to kidnap a store clerk 2 days after Thanksgiving....and shot her 10 times in Ohio. WTF!!!!
He is obviously looking at the death penalty. A whole bunch of drama afterward before he was arrested. So now I have detectives and shit at my house going thru his room and my mother in Ohio is having a breakdown....so beside my person life with the wifey I am now being caught up in this mess and staying in Ohio to help my family.....this is where Carbonwerks starts to fall in trouble as a business as I am the only one running the show and not there now. Basically running part time
*New Years Eve a girl my wife and I are good friends with invites us (we still are not together at that time so it was awkward) to her New Years party. After arriving at the party a few minutes later our friend falls over in the living room and goes into cardiac arrest and dies!!! My wife (an RN) works on her for almost 45 minutes till meds arrive...pronounced dead about 45 minutes after that, she is only 29...WHOAH!!! I am now kinda freakin' out by all the fukn' bad happening around me and really not enjoying my life in the first place to have all this other crap going on.
*About a little over a month ago my mother has a heart attack and is hospitalized. The stress from my brother's death penalty trial is taking it's toll on her. They didn't get ahold of me till 3 days later though and she had heart surgery so I was up there of course for that.
Carbonwerks at this time is just not a feasible thing to do for me. Maybe later. I am by no means a weak minded person and have pulled thru all of it for the most part. I am so disappointed in my little brother though and worried about my mother. When I found out what he did that was just some heavy stuff.

So besides all those excuses I mainly just plain got burned out. Was alot to take care of over the years. And sometimes I took on way more than I could handle. So for now I am done. Thanks guys/gals for all your business over the years.

Leo

You know I feel bad for you Leo! You told me some of this before and I really hate to see you go since you helped out alot in the DSM scene with your stuff.
To everyone reading I just wanna say he is a great guy to deal with, and I hope everything works out to the best eventhough it sucks right now.

Good luck with all in all this mess Leo and talk soon!!

Wow! I just wanted to say that you/carbonwerks were an inspiration for me to start doing cf work for other dsmr's a few months ago. I really started because I had heard you did fuel doors for the 2g but you weren't selling them anymore and they were special request only and mine would have been even more so as I wanted one of green cf . As soon as I finished mine and showed it on my home forum and here, I was approached by alot of people asking for me to do them and other things as well. I, like you also had really only worked with fiberglass but figured cf can't be much different and reading/ hearing and talking alot with others that set the foot hold in cf I was able to turn out some really nice products with the tips I got. Its odd but I just finished up my last few pieces out of the hundred or so I made in the last two months that needed to go out before I make my long awaited move to Cincinnati, Oh. I would just like to say thanks and even though I don't know you really, you were a great inspiration in getting me into making custom parts for fellow dsm'rs. I will be starting again once I get settled and my new garage is set up. If the bad luck turns around on you and you decide to start up agian I would like to stop in and say hey. Good luck.......karma has a way of turning things around for people.

Rob

my tribute to carbonwerks thanks for the inspiration

wow, sorry to hear all that, i know how you feel. im only 17 and ive had my 22 year old friend die right in front of me from cardiac arrest. 4 of my friends died of OD on heroin. my sister has been in jail twice for stealing. and finally my best friend i had for almost 5 years was shot at a week ago and is the ICU, they still arent sure if he is gonna make it. hope your feeling better :barf:

Ahhh... your work is coming a long way since the first fuel doors. That is really smooth work. Trust me, molds are not too extremely difficult. You'll get the hang of it and even though you could read up on it nothing beats actually doing IT, failing and then succeeding. There are so many variable the books can not teach you.

BTW folks, the latest turn of events I forgot to mention...
I got hit head on last Friday night in the Talon. 5 pt harness held me tight though...Talon is FUBAR!!! Other girl went to the hospital with a broken hand or something. Her insurance covered me 100% and I got $8,400 back! I already stripped it down before they took it to the salvage yard. 3000 dollar IPT tranny was toasted as well as the engine and turbo. DAMN.
I am buying a stroked first gen next week and restoring it back to original outside and doing carbon for the interior...of course! Very low key outside though except the huge FMIC, no visible guages..yet. Still needs to be finished being built ( have all the parts already) which I will now be helping do over the next week or so when I have time.
This is all being done at Stemar Motorsports in York, PA.
I am seriously avoiding black cats and walking under ladders now.
Leo

Also, to any disgruntled customers I might of had over time on here, I am sure I apologized personally, but I do so now openly if i never did before in private. I always tried to do my best although i never had experience running a business and the dealings of such...unless you count selling Cinnamon toothpicks in grade school.
