well i finally got around to buying new speakers, and the front ones went it easy, but the back ones are going to be trouble, i guess i didnt get dimensions before buying them (still kicking myself) but my depth seems to be 1/2" too much... i dont know if i dare to mount them somewheres else, like on the hatch cover, i just dont know how it would sound... should i just make a spacer to put between the speaker and the factory mount? i'm not sure on how it would look, and if things would even go back the way they used to... or else i should pay the fees and send them back..not sure.. help a guy out..i just got off work, and now have to go back to work in 5 1/2 hours, so i can't mess around with it too much... it's just a good thing i have another car to drive while i mess around with mine. :dsm:

I had the same problem with my spyder.. The speakers I got were too deep!! Like the magnet got in the way of the bracket.. well I managed to mount mine properly, the only hard part was getting the cover on... and right now 3/4 latches on each cover are on.. and one corner is kinda popping out.. it looks hideous when you take a sec to look at it. But yea, mines about half inch too deep.. I wonder if you can remove a piece of the bracket to make the magnet fit in there?.. I didnt get into it too much.. maybe I could do that tomorrow... LOL sorry my post wasnt very helpful..

i went to an install guy for this and he said easiest way to do it is to dent the wheel well to the shape of the magnet on the speaker. i thought it sounded stupid at first but the i thought about it some and looked at the magnet of some high end speakers and it makes sense. the magnets on these new speakers are huge!

haha yeah i think i will return mine and get different ones... the thing is, i thought i ordered TSA- 6971's, but i guess i ordered TSA-6981... and i looked at the specs and the 6971's top mount depth is 2 7/8", while the 6981's are 3 3/8"... i'm not about ready to start pounding on my wheel wells quite yet... but if i get different ones, and they are a tad too big, i will then get a hammer and knock them in a bit... thanks for all the help though, i just put the infinity ones back in and am going to live with them for a while...
