No really though.... I really think it did look amazingly slick.... but I'm not sure what I was thinking when I ordered it. Where else could that .5->1 inch of empty space go to other than up?

Anyway... aside from being a really tall, long throw... it made it so I couldn't take cds out in 1st, 3rd, or 5th gear (and this is with a B&M).... and even worse for some reason the way I hammered it with the extra leverage made me stick from 2nd->3rd if I didn't bring it to the right side of third before I pushed forward.

Looked really cool (in a stylish, elegant way... mine was the leather not the CF)... wasn't that bad in the winter (as far as gripping an EVO shifter is concerned LOL but they height was killer. After going back to the stock 2g its a huge improvement... but does anyone like any shifters other than the hammers I see. I want something thats still light, comfortable like the stocker... but a bit more elegant.

Height, and the interference with the CDs was why I changed. I was also insistent on one that was threaded and not mounted with an adapter and Allen setscrews. After looking at the fancy $70 knobs and laughing my ass off, I got a $4 Honda knob. I drilled it almost all the way through and tapped it to fit the DSM threads, and hogged out the bottom so it's about as short as it can be. Oh, and I satined down the chrome with the drill and some sandpaper.

I'm using the F16 right now. The top sits below the CD player, but only because I cut down and rewelded the stock shifter (A LOT). The height was my only initial complaint. Feels great, and it flows with the organic lines of the interior well, IMO.

The MOMO Anatomic SHORT VERSION (-NOT- the "SuperAnatomic") is nice and short - great leather, too.

Aside from that, you're gonna be looking at ball-type shift knobs, which aren't like the OEM at all in terms of feel or shape. :(

I like this shifter, nice and simple but looks good.

Love the knob defiant..... (did I just say that?)
How often do you clean it?

If I switched again I like the idea of it screwing on.... I saw someone made an adapter sleeve for momo knobs and miatas... maybe someone could make a profit here :)

also... the evo knob wasn't that nice to me... I think I don't like the round knobs because that knotch gives you a constant sense of direction.... no matter how hard you are going forward/back or to the side.

eaither way is the mom anatomic really super comfortable or is it just a bit of a upgrade from stock?

I really don't want to spend much again... I liked the flow of the F16 and I would like something else that looked good... but form is following function more and more :)

I got the greddy counterweight. Small, short, Heavy, looks good, not even 20 bucks :thumb:

my shift knob is alright u know it has the standard button u press to change from park to drive its got the mean over drive button on the side to :sneaky:

How is the counterweight in the winter?

...whats the lowest it gets in pheonix (i'm just gonna pick up and leave the midwest during fall sometime... denver baby!)

From having driven an old friend's MR2, yes, the MOMO Anatomic Shorty is truly "that comfortable." The leather on it is top-shelf, like with all MOMO leather products. If you like leather and a short knob with some "directionality," it's definitely a good way to go.

----

As for how the GReddy Counterweight feels in the winter.....

It's actually not that bad.

I prefer "directionless" shift knobs - my 1G N/T has a MOMO Competition - had it since that knob first came out in the late 90s, and comparing the two, with the current 2G TSi having the previous owner's setup, which I plan to keep unmolested, a GReddy Counterweight on top of an exposed-shaft B&M ShortThrow, I actually prefer the GReddy in terms of "warmth" in the colder months. The ball seems to warm up faster than on my Competition, which is billet aluminum; but this may be subjective as the ball's "top," which is a significant portion of its overall area, is plastic (the shift pattern decoration).

I got the MOMO Shadow, It kinda rides a lil bit higher than stock, but then again I also have the B&M short shifter. But It doesnt block the CD player or anything, Grips nice, and it looks awesome.
