Anyone know how to get rid of this?

Does anyone know how to remove the oxidization/salt residue all over my engine? I have tried numerous things and nothing seems to work. I bought the car in Atlantic City where it sat for over a year, 100 yards from the ocean. The paint is fine except when I pop the hood there is white crap all over my engine bay. Any ideas?
