exhaust idea

well, im not really into the whole after market exhaust look on my car so i had an idea. i was going to go 3 inch with a flowmaster muffler, and have the stock muffler on the back of the car in the stock postition. im going to hallow out the stocker and run a 3 inch pipe through and have a 90 degree bend out through the bottom of the muffler. just wondering what u guys thought of this idea.

Well, sounds a little complicated. Why not just use one of the flowmaster stock looking fufflers? Ive seen some (maybe duramax?) That are high flow 3" yet look exactly like the stock N/T mufflers.

Why don't you just put a cut-out on? It would be easiest, and you could keep your stock muffler. God knows why you want to do that though

i like my stock muffler, i know it sounds complicated, but i think it will be worth it. i already have all the stuff i need except the 3 inch piping. my dad works in a sheetmetal shop so all i need is some bends and pipe and we can put it all together. i dont like cutouts because they are too loud and not stret legal, this would allow me to put a high flow cat on and have a muffler so i dont see why my setup would be legal. plus id owuld never have to clean the exhaust tips because nothing would be comming out of them

why not just buy a muffler that looks stock there are plenty of threads about this, Thermal makes stock looking mufflers that have a 3" inlet, why not buy a muffler with a 3" inlet and then get the rest of the exhaust custom made.

i know i can buy one that looks stock but i dont know of anyone who has done this before. i think it will be a fun project. and i knwo there are threads about a stock looking muffler, but i havent seen one about modifying your stock one and have a full 3 inch system.

I actually Liek the tone of my Stock muffler. Only thing i'm doing is Adding an Intake.

Correct me if i'm wrong but i can add an AFTERMARKET exhaust and an Intake...Pretty sure they make an Exhaust or the N/T.

i have everythign except the piping. o2 flange, flex pipe, high flow cat, flowmaster 40 muffler, and stock muffler. the only thing im not sure about is clearance. also, does a muffler have to be a minimum distance from the cat?
