So whenever I decided to tackle installing my Audio I''m a lil owrried about running the power wire...it's 4 gauge and is thicker than every other wire...I.E. Remote...RCA...Speaker. So i was wodnerign if anyone has installed it and been able to hide the wire ok considerign it is so bulky and thick...i want a nice clean install and want little wire showing as possible...and how do i get it thru the firewall ...looks cramped in the engine compartment

ok

you need a few tools for this

first use the search tool.

this topic is covered WEEKLY.

you have two choices, follow the turbo pathway... or try and keep it on the same battery side.

use the existing grommet for the steering column, or drill your own hole and grommet it.

If I remember correctly a 4 gauge power wire will fit inside the plastic wire tunnel thingy that the Eclipse come with from the factory. Just pull your carpet back and it will be right along the floor line. Be sure to keep the power and audio signal wires on opposite sides of the car. Also you may find it easier to actually remove your seats and maybe even the carpet to do a good clean install of the wires. That way you can easily hide the wires and have plenty of room to work.

if you have ever wired i car for an amp install then this should take you about an hour tops. on the pasenger side directly under the glove box, behind the carpet their will be a grommet about 1 1/2in in dia. in the firewall, that will be where you will run your wire. your power wire will run on the left side under the carpet, just pull the door sill plate and peel the carpet back. your rca jacks will run underneath your console right down the middle of the car. dont worry about running it underneatht the carpet, there is only about a foot of carpet from behind the console to the backseat. the rest is piece of cake. any one feel free(and i know you guys will J/k) fill in any thing I left out. here is a http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/learningcenter/car/amplifiers_movie.html?format=wmv that I found, I know its a mustang but the way the wires are run are very much the same way.

just 2 things...

with the high quality rcas today you don't need to run them opposite the power wire...

but if you want to, then run them in the passenger side channel and the power wire in the drivers side channel since yours is an n/t and space is restricted on that side.

recommend you pull the back seat and the lower trim in that area and you will find nice holders to feed the wire thru to keep it out of the way on both sides...

Just drill a hole about 1-1.5 inches left of the steering boot... it will be easier and cleaner...

USe a wire puller or a coat hanger to push/pull wires, and loosen the rear hatch area plastic s screws so you can lift the bottom edge up a little to passthe wires thru to the hatch area...
