What exactly is heat shrinking? what are the ins and outs of it?

heat shrinking is what you do to properly cover cut wires that have been spliced. you slide the heat shrink tubing over the wires before you solder, then solder them and slide the heat shrink tubing over the exposed parts. heat the heat shrink tubing with a heatgun or good heater of some sort. now you have the perfect splice with minimal voltage loss and resistance to oil or heat.always solder and always heat shrink tube everything you care about.any other ?????s , i will be more than glad to help. i am mecp cert installer.good luck.

thanks for remindin gme, i'm all out. Need to pick up some more. And butane for my soldering iron.

butane for a soldering iron? i thought they were all electric.

and a cig lighter works well to shrink the tubing also. me and my freind did a mpfi swap on a crx and went through alot of soldering and shrinking.

hell no, electric = old and busted. Butane = new hotness. Heats up in literally 10 seconds, can use it anywhere, no worries about having a plug near by. Come with several tips for doing different jobs, and so on.

Unfortunately I bought mine through Snapon and paid over 200 for it, i've seen them at sears for around 50.

I was actually refering to heat shrinking to window tinting.

Ah. So now you see, first-hand, why the "Use descriptive thread titles. If it's not descriptive, many will not click on it. If you need help with fuel tuning, put 'fuel tuning' in the thread title, not some generic line like 'help me please'." rule is so important.

Welp, better luck next time.
