Good Match? (audio stuff)

Hey,

I'm not really experienced much with car audio so I thought I would ask my questions here. I'm looking for a Mono Amp that will provide slightly more power to the Alpine Type-X subwoofer running at 2 ohms. The one amp that I have in mind, HIFONICS BRUTUS BX2200, is advertised as a Mono Amp. That is where my first question comes in: when I look at the pictures, it shows 2 speaker outputs. If anyone could explain this to me, I would appreciate it.

Second question: are the two products compatible? Here is the specs on both.

yeah butI'd go with something a little different in terms of amp


maybe a jbl gto 1200.1 ($550 MSRP)

a mono amp is more efficient with a dual voice coil woofer if you run each coil to each set of outputs versus wiring in parallel or series. usually only "better top of the line mono amps" have the dual outputs. Just look at the rms on the amps and match it to the rms on the woofers and you should be fine. just don't get an amp that is under powered it will not only sound like ass but will ruin your woofers.

why run twice the wire?


using both outputs is parallel. wiring the V/c in parallel saves time and wiring.

i deffinatly keep 1000 watts per coil on that sub....if you are going to just run 500 watts per coil you would be safe with a Type R

Hey,

that sub is rated for 1000w RMS. Wouldn't 1000w per coil be a bit too much?

And also, what would be the better way to wire that DVC sub to the amp Attack_Eagle suggested? I want to have the least resistance and most power to the sub that the amp can provide.

wire both positives and both negatives together, then 1 wire from each to one set of the amps outputs.

500 per coil = 1000 rms per sub... not 2000 watts


1000-1200 w rms amp will be excellent

sorry i thought you were going with a 1ohm stable amp
