I will soon be the proud owner of a TSi AWD (95), but this vehicle comes with some baggage. About a week after I went and saw the car, it was side swiped and took on some damage. I apologize in advance for any poor lighting in some of the pictures.

Front Bumper took a curb:

Passenger side took some damage:

The car from a few yards away in low light:

As far as the bumper is concerned, I'm pretty sure I'll have to replace the entire piece. I may either put another stock bumper on, or opt for a very clean new bumper. Any suggestions?

The body damage is a whole 'nother story. I know it may be hard to make a good guess given the quality of the pictures, but does anybody have a guesstimate on how much that'll run in the shop to be repaired? I'm sure insurance will be an option, but i'd rather keep my rates as low as possibly.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Man, I can't tell how deep those dings are in the door, but I would love to have those rims!

Well, it's kind of hard to see from the pics how deep the dent in front of the rear tire is, but it looks like it should mostly pound out, and then a little Bondo to smooth out the area and I'd call it good. Door just looks scuffed, not dented, so it looks like the only bodywork is that one dent in front of the tire, and a new bumper. Paint up that side... I'm going to say $1500-2000 depending on who you know and how easy it is to match your paint.

Dont do it...the rear quater pannel is EXPENSIVE to replace or fix...Mine is still in the shop...its been over 30+ days and 6 grand, check my thread...

I wanna know where his friggin intercooler got off too...

Are you reffering to my an intercooler on my car? Sorry, I'm new to DSM cars, so Im not sure if you're reffering to the front bumper picture.

As far as the rear quarter, would I just be easier to buy a new quarter panel and then get it painted?

I'm not sure if these photos will help clarify the real damage, but I'm hoping they will:

Other than those two things, the car is in great condition. With the damage, I'm getting it for $4,800, and its still a baby! (Only 84k miles)

Also, does anybody have some suggestions on a bumper that'll work for this car? I really want a clean look, but a little flare is alright for the front bumper.

Thanks yall!

With that kinda damage I think you should be able to get the car for cheaper than $4,800.. looks to be a $2500ish fix, depending on the place of course.

As far as bumpers go, why not just get a 97-99 Eclipse bumper, or 2gb Talon bumper? If you feel like spending some money, check out the Stillen front.

What a pisser. I'd go with the $2500 guess. That rear quarter doesn't much get replaced, as that skin is part of the frame. Other costs will be in various plastics. Did those wheels really get missed?

What a pisser.

Yeah, no damage to the wheels. I guess the front right wheel's wheel bearing got jacked up a bit though, but no damage to the rims.

ouch, sorry man....i dont knwo what to tell you..that looks like some pretty pricey damage...i think 2500 is probably being a little to much on the optimistic side...if i were you and your still interested in the car take it to a reputable body shop and put an estimate on it...then take that receit to the guy your going to buy from and tell him to deduct that price from his selling price...of course he wont agree to that, but it will give you some negotiating room...let him talk you up 600-1000 dollars and let him feel like he is still gettign a deal...you would think that if a guy is getting ready to sell his car he would be very cautious about it
