Is there a way to shave the "TALON" text from the center tail light section on the 2g talon?

Thanks

Bill

Its just paint, but I think the letters are raised as well. You could take it off and sand off the raised letters, then prime it and paint it your body color. That would look pretty nice.

If the letters are similar to the letters on eclipses, just peel up the edge with a blade, pull the letter off, and clean it with rubbing alcohol. But you might still have the appearance of the letters, if your car sits in the sun long.

The Talon letters are molded into the plastic and are raised from the rest of the surface. If you sand the letters down flat the spot where the letters where will be smoother than everything else and will still be apparent if you look for them. They do not peel off like that of an eclipse.

I did it...used that eagle one cotton for polishing metals LOL but brake cleaner will work also. :thumb: you can check my gallery for pics

I am going to have to do this. And also I am going to check out to see how much it will cost to have my center peice painted to match.

any pics of this (sorry for bring this back from the dead) rjdavis21 doesnt have the pics in his gallery anymore. i just want to get rid of the TALON in the center. any ideas?

buy another center piece and start sanding and see where it gets you . if you take it down too far you can have a body shop use body filler on it and make it nice and smooth for when they paint it.

As stated, buying a second center section is a good idea. I had a friend who wanted this done and ended up making a mess of the center peice for his daily driven car. I did a little bit of work, mostly refilling where he sanded to deep and managed to smooth it out nicely and repaint it the color of his car. It does look good, but I like the Talon lettering on mine :talon:

i like the upper amber part on the tails and thats why i want to get the talon letters off to "clean" it up a bit. ill probably just get the black part of the letters off, at least it wont be too noticeable after that

My frind backed my car up into someone elses and the middle top of the taillights is broken up and has pieces missing. It IS possible to sand off the letters because they are just plastic raised above the bottom. if you shave them all even to the backpeice there will not be holes where the letters once were. This is not my car but here's an example.
