i'm not sure if changing the LED's from my HVAC had anything to do with it, but after a week, my amp has been shutting down randomly... it doesn't shut itself off...the amp's power LED goes from green to red which is in protection mode or something...anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Unless you managed to f'up the wiring when you changed to LEDs (doubtful). I suspect your amp is overheating and throwing itself into safe mode to prevent damage. No, I don't know why it's happening all of a sudden, but do a temperature check on it when it shuts down next time. Without knowing what AMP it is it's hard to say what else it could be. Try looking through the manufacturer's site for reasons it would go into safe mode. Also double check the wiring to make sure it's all making good contact and isn't shorting out anywhere.

same thing happend to me in my geo metro when i had my 15's subs with 1500 watt amp turned out to be my ground. make shure you ground it realy good also if you can get a small fan or a few of them. they are about 2" wide and mount them under your amp or cut a hole in the botom of your amp to have the fans cool it down . make shure you dont cut the holes out when you amp is together take the bottom plate off.

i also can get you the fans if you need them they are 5$ each and run off 12 volts easy hook up

depends a lot on your amp - make sure you don't accidentally have the 'bridged' button pushed in or your speakers wired in series instead of parallel - make sure the impedence of your speakers isn't more than your amp can handle - most likely it's just something simple that was overlooked and not a bad amp - most good car audio shops can test your amp to make sure though

make sure your gains arnet cranked all the way to the max and make sure your subs are wired at an ohm your amp can handle. touch the amp next time that happens and see if its extremely hot.

i think i fixed the problem... my ground was loose... i guess after a few years of pounding from the sub, the screw that mounted the ground's tip came loose... thanks for the help

yeah, thats usually what happens. Make sure next time something weird happens with your amp, double check to make sure you have a good ground and that your fuse didnt burn out. That has happend to me and i was having one hell of a time trying to figure out what was wrong! :D
