I should have gotten the clue Saturday when my battery in my car died. But I didn't, and you'd think I would have gotten the clue when a SUV kicked a rock up into my windshield. But I didn't. But now I think I have the clue after some jerk ran their car into the side of my car! I'm parked at school, I come out to my car and I see a bunch of scratches and little dents that make up the big dent. And you think they'd care to leave a note? No, not a chance.
At least my new wheels weren't touched.
Anyway, what kind of work do you all think will have to be put into this car to make it look good again? The dent isn't that bad, but the scratches are like there for life. So it needs paint and to be straightened. How much do you think it will cost?
I wouldn't mind learning and doing it myself, but I have no body work knowledge. So I wouldn't know where to start. And if I catch the idiot that did this, that dent and all the dents on my car are going to be repaired... then my car will have a color change!
Hit and run isn't cool! :thumbdown

If you're really set on finding out who it is, do some CSI junk to see what kind of paint is on your car, or look for a darker colored car in your parking lot with white scratches.

But, it looks like you're going to need a new rear quarter panel. I can't really tell from the extreme close-ups though. :(

I think it just has to be pulled... and painted. Maybe though it would be cheaper to get a new panel and have it painted. How hard would it be to replace?
Thanks!

to replace youd need to take out the rear quarter window, bumper, sideskirt, interior panels and posssable hatch. then drill out the factory spot welds and weld in the new panel. im almost positive it can be pulled, its not stretched much if any at all from the looks of the pics and most of the damage isnt in the door jam area. not cheap either way.

Ya Chuck, I'm lucky that the car missed the door, and my new wheels! So it's all contained to that little spot.
Oh did I tell you, when I parked in that spot that morning, that I told my friend who I gave a ride to: "I don't feel good about this spot"... and when he came outside to stare at the damage with me after school he reminded me of what I said.

He definately hit you in the most PITA spot to fix on any car (quarter). but look at the bright side, there is a fairly good chance that you can get behind the panel relatively easily, I mean it could be right above the wheel well which would prove to be a far more difficult fix. The gap on the door dosn't seem to be hurt, so mostly you have a cosmetic dent that didn't do any "real" structural damage. I would try having the dent pulled or "bumped" from inside by a professional shop. Depending on the dent itself some will simply snap back into place while others will require a bit more work. My advice would be to take it some where to have it done. Metal working is an art for the most part and an experianced metal worker can have that dent fixed in no time. Someone with out experiance won't know where to start and will more than likely make the damage worse. From the pictures it seems as though the body line at the door jam has been pulled in a bit causing the edge to become sharp. In my experiance damage next to edges like this will normally require a bit of hammer and dolly work to restore them back to their original positions. My advice is not to take on this as a learning experiance. If you truely want to learn bodyworking get a good tech manual and a body panel from a junk yard, or even volunteer to do a friends car either way it isn't your car that you are experimenting on :p

definately take it to a shop or someone who knows how to fix it. i had to fix a quarter panel on a cavalier and it is a bi***. In comparison tho, yours has much lighter damage and can be pulled.

I hate my life as of now.
But coming home to a Rotora big brake kit waiting for you at your front door feels great. I love sponsorship... Like who ever invented that?
I'll go get an estimate soon.

how did you manage to get a sponsorship? did you mail people or what?

Yea, how did you get a sponsorship if your car isn't kitted? That's unheard of as far as I know.

Its cuz hes a momas boy... hehe jk

Damn dude that sucks. I would rather have had it in the door myself, thats easier to replace than the whole quarter panel. My car got hit in the drivers quarter panel. I looked into replacing the whole thing until I saw what a bi*** it is to do. But yah, to bad you spent all the money on the brakes now you have none left for repairs.
