umm...i was planning to get a new radio trim for my 92 tsi, becuase the recent owner had painted it yellow, and with many many coats of yellow, and jus say he didn't do it right. but where im buying it, there asking wheter it is two 1 DIN Openings, or one double DIN Opening, what's that, what is DIN???need help.

Basically, when you take you trim off, do you have 2 holes or 1 big hole. I had a radio and cassette deck, and i had 2 holes, i believe if you had the cd and equalizer, you only had 1 hole, i may be wrong on that part though. Go on crutchfield.com, and they have all the possibilties there, that helped me out.

We'll use mine as an example .. see how my bezel has a thin piece of plastic that divides the top and bottom into two rectangles. I had the factory cd/eq in mine. The other bezel doesnt have this divider and simply is a large square hole rather than two halves split into rectangles.

I have my pioneer head unit in the top rectangle .. divided by the panel i made for the lower half with my turbo timer..

If yours looks like mine .. its the 2 DIN if it doesnt its the 1 DIN

Both will fit in the dash .. just depends really on what you are planning on doing with your set up. I liked the 2 one because as you can see i made a panel for my bottom rectangle. But the single large square would be sweet for a tv screen or fold out screen.. ect

DIN stands for Deutscher Industrie Normenausschus and is the German standard adopted by manufacturers. It's the size of almost every aftermarket radio ~7 X 2 inches. Mitsu also makes a pocket to go in one of the DIN openings.

You know I always wondered who would buy a car after some idiot painted the interior. Any chance you could just paint it a normal/non--clown car color?

Well actually you have a "dual" 1 DIN opening (that's two 2"x7" openings), DSM's also have one 2 DIN opening (one opening that is 4"x7"). I just bought a double 1 DIN trim piece (part# MB522080) for $16.13 + shipping and an under radio storage pocket (part# MB522082) for $18.70 at the :dsm: dealer. Everything fits together very easily and both pieces can be installed in less than 15 minutes.
