Blower Motor ticking...

My Blower Motor or the fan itself is making a loud knocking/ticking sound. It only does it on the lowest setting, then if I turn it on the highest it goes away. But later it comes back. I am guessing it could be something stuck inside there hitting the fan/turbine/propeler or what ever you might call it. Just wondering if anyone has replaced theirs before and how hard it was. And if I just need to clean it out.

It's not hard at all. It's under the dash all the way on the passenger side. After you pull off the trim plate, there are just three bolts holding it.

Pull off the squirrel cage when you have it out and give it a thorough cleaning. Also wipe out the housing and throw a little grease on the shaft while you have it out. Mine used to squeak like mad until did that.

Mine was leaves. I don't know how they got in there.
