does anybody know what kinda similarities occur between 3g's and 2g's , specially 2g spyders that have the same engine as 3g GS (4g64) what kinda parts are interchangable, exterior and interior, engine wise and everything else?

The guys here have pretty much hit it. The 3G has pretty much nothing in common with the 1G & 2Gs, hence why it's not referred to as a DSM. Even the engine orientation for that 4G64 2.4L is different on the 3Gs compared to the 2G. There is a guy on here who put a 3G rear end on his 1G - but that's just weird :p

The only good part about a 3g is the :dsm: symbol

well actually I used to own one ... they are slow and not as sleek looking as a late model 2g ... but they are a LOT more reliable. Of course that may be because they can't put out any power to break stuff?

Actually the engines are different..... they are both 4g64 blocks but that's about it. CR for one is different.

yeah, its annoying, considering you couldn't pay me to drive a 3G, and i really dont care to read a manual about them for 20 bucks... :thumbdown

The 3G isnt that bad. Bigger displacement and more cylinders gives it more instantaneous power when you stomp your right foot - no turbo lag.

I personally like the 2G look more but the 3G looks better than a 1G. I dont have a problem driving one, considering it's newer than my GSX.

The bigger displacement is outweighed he he by the fact that it weighs more.
I bet the wheels are interchangeable, just a guess though.

anyone notice that the haynes manual for the 2g is combined with the 3g?
That and the cheese-wrap paper they're printed on make it the worst Haynes manual I've ever seen.... and I've seen quite a few. I was horribly disappointed.

And 3Gs are all FWD pigpuke.

Yea, I'm not a big fan of then either, but the exhaust note on the v6 GT sounds pretty sweet. Especially when its got an intake one it. Pay attention next time you are blowing past one when its goin WOT and your goin half throttle :thumb:

Stop calling it a 3g. DSMs stopped after 2g. This is a DSM page. :thumbdown

Technically that is very true. It is however a 3g DSM/Eclipse, but its a 1G Mitsubishi stratus.

Yeah, the 3g isn't considered a DSM, but it's still an Eclipse... the 3rd generation of an Eclipse. The generations have nothing to do w/the fact that it's a DSM or not.
