Deck mounting issues.

Ok, I just got done mounting a Sony CDX-M3DI deck in my '98 GST. It doesn't fit, so I have some questions. I notice that there is a choice of mounting on the top or bottom of the opening where the factory deck used to be. My old Pioneer deck was mounted on top and there was a plastic pocket mounted below it. It looked fine and mounted flush. Now, with the Sony, it won't mount on the top without either being 1/2" too far inward, or 1/2" too far outward. It looks like a buck-tooth, but at least the plastic pocket fits. Now, if I mount the deck on the bottom part of the opening, the deck fits perfectly, but the plastic pocket will not fit on top. So here the question: Has anyone mounted your deck in the lower location, and what sort of gadget did you use to fill the upper space? I will include a pic later if I can find my digital camera. I found you cant get a cd out with the thing in certain gears if its on the bottom slot...
unscrew the deck and mount on the brackets on the sides where you want it to be positioned, and get a drill

hey yo, before you mangle your dash, go to cardomain and look for the scosche stero mounting kit. I just installed a Sony 7705 and it fits fine. With the original mounts, the stereo was too far in.... with the mounting kit you get a whole new bracket and bottom pocket assembly, should screw right on.

Just google it to search for a site that sells it. I ordered it from Electrogalaxy, but everyone I checked has it for about the same price after shipping is included. The shipping actually costs more than the item. Go figure.
