Ok I have a 99 GST and am trying to install my auto meter pro shift light the one that uses the little rpm pills. So if anyone has hooked one of these up and could tell me where to tap the wire in at in order to get the rpm feed that would be great.

Ok so 13 people have looked at this thread and none of them had any input this tells me that I should probablly just take it somewhere and have it installed. Damn the bad luck.

i would suspect it would be the ECU, but don't quote me on it. it's an uneducated guess :D

I vote it's the solid white wire coming from the ECU, not the white and yellow striped one, the solid white one. But that is my thought, so ask a true pro before you go for it. Have fun cause soon I will be asking you how to install mine.

Yeah I will probablly ask a performance shop first. But thanks for the help non the less. I will let you know how it go's the ECU is in a hell of a spot in my car so this should prove to be pretty interesting.

"We" (me and an audio shop owner) installed mine and we had to goto the bottom of the steering colum and find that one wire.. (dont remember color) then had to goto the passenger side of the car and locate the ecu and find the other wire that we had to install...

ill call him this afternoon and see if he remembers the exact places but man it was about a 15 min install once we could find the dam wires...

0 and so you know if your mounting it to your pillar pod then make sure you use a very long screw and make sure it actually goes to frame because if it dont its going to move and that will aggrivate you to death!

hes right about the color of the wire and on the back of your tact dont forget to cut the orange wire

Yeah I found the ECU and yep it was the solid white wire. I think it was pin out number 58 on my car.... But unfortunatelly I waited till today to install it and the weather went to #@%#@%#@%#@% so I gotta wait  but oh well. Im thinking though it might be easier to tap into the wire that my turbo timer uses because if I remember correctly it sense the rpm's as well for the auto timer feature or something like that. I will have to look and see hopefully tomorrow it will stop raining. Anyway now that I am babbleing..... Thanks for all the help guys will post again after I am done with the install with the trials and tribulations story of my trying to manipulate my way under the driver side of the dash :D .
