rethinking the kit?

Ok, so here's my dilemna...I thought about this and today I checked out installation for my sideskirts about 150, plus the 220 to buy them, 200 for the front bumper, 200 install for that, 200+ plus for the rear and that again for installation...That's 1170 alone without the paintjob, for that I could just get some springs, drop it a couple inches and get some mesh for the stock bumper and still have a shitload left over to save up for a turbo kit....what does everyone else here think?

97-99's look awesome as they are. I was thinking about a body kit as well, but I'm just gonna get a cf lip and save the money for a turbo. You should scrap the body kit and get some tein coilovers and save for that turbo. Get a lip or something if you want to add somethin to the body. My 2¢. Later | "B"

That's a good idea but I mean I already have my skirts so I don't know what to do I don't wanna just waste em, would it look dumb if I got sideskirts and then just got mesh and lip for the front or if you get skirts do you have to get the rest?

The 2gb is one of the sexiest stock bodied cars on the road today- keep it stock, keep it clean. If you want to go with some aftermarket beauty to the exterior take a look at the CF lips out there, maybe some window tint, fresh paint (or if it's still fresh n clean a good n complete wash, wax, and detailing), and maybe the GS-T\X basket handle?

Lowering and a set of wheels will really set it all off...

I have seen a few ppl in the galleries that have it...I actually planned on havin just the blitz sides and the rest stock 97-99 bumpers looks awesome.

your usually looking at 1200-2000 for full install of a paintee bodykit. if you dont have that much money, installing it yourself is a way to go, as long as the kit fits good and you know what you are doing and then having it painted for ~600 ish. now, if you are me, you get a full VIS kit for 450, have a friend that works at a bodyshop, and does the install and paint for 600 bucks. but if you are thinking that a bodykit is to much money, ditch the idea and keep the stock bumpers, add a front lip and some mesh. because the stock bumpers are the best looking stock bumeprs for almost any car out there and keeping them will still have your car look good, i am a fan of SOME bodykits, like mine, but the stockers look better thn 90% of the kits out there right now. so there is nothing wrong in keeping them, your car will still look good

That is what I did. Friend of mine owns a body shop and I did the installation myself and am having him paint the entire car. The only thing that sucks about doing it yourself is that you know where all the imperfections are in the car and it will drive you nuts...but no body else will know.

But it sounds like you have a good deal on a body kit installation.

paint and sh!t isn't cheap. I bought my car with the sides thrown on, rear cracked up really bad, stress cracks all over from somebody backing it into something. there was horrible marble yellow paint on it and dents, no front end, no hood, no interior, i got to work on it and shaved everything off the body, filled alot of stuff, smoothed dents, scrapes, etc. molded some stuff. i had it about 2/3 set for paint except for final prep work and resurfacing the rear bumper and trunklid and cutting for the lambo hinges. i wanted a smooth as glass finish so a coat of filler primer, two primers, two base coats a pearl coat and a clear coat plus all the final prep work still cost me $3000 for the whole body job, stuff's not cheap. especially nice pearl colors they cost ya...
Took forever to get all the imperfections out of the body. Its amazing what previous owners will do to their car in a matter of a year or two, and how long it takes to reverse carelessness. Alot of down time too, months without your car sucks..

All i know is after spending probably 20 hours a week for 6 weeks on my car, plus another 2 months in the bodyshop if it gets hit or wrecked there will be hell...

Stocker bumpers look great 97-99, everytime i see a lowered one with FMIC and clean paint it makes me want to get a 99GSX and ditch the spyder...

if your doing sides, you NEED a rear, just sides make the car look 1/2 assed. sorry, but the sides hang down to far and dont match up, now say, blitz sides, blitz ass end or something clean, and a stock front with a lip, now that is pimp or just save the money and get a full kit done right

I dunno i really dislike the way the 2GB lip just kinda sits there and doesn't look integrated, but the 2GA lip is really really good looking to me... idk

I already put on the rear bumper and it does look better. Just having the sides made my rear bumper look too high.

DIY and save money!!!

You really don't have to be a rocket scientist to use kitty hair or Bondo... take a pile of bondo out, throw some hardener on there (about a 3" line of it, per putty knife-full), then grab your spreader pad, and start spreading. After you gob the sh*t onto the body/kit, run your finger in the crack to give it a natural look, then sand, prime, and DONE!

I got it to protect my paint. I'd much rather scrape black plastic than red paint.
