ok first off I really am not an idiot ... I have an aftermarket headunit in my gsx so I still have the infinity deck out of that in the garage. I just bought a non turbo talon ( 95 esi ) and the kid took out his cd player. Instead of buying a new one I wanted to install my infinity deck, and it all plugged in and it gets power .. but no sound. I understand the gsx has a stock amp and the talon doesn't, so modification needs to be done to make the headunit work in that car? It works perfectly fine, only I get no sound at all.

if the talon has the upgraded infinity sound system then it should have an amp stock . otherwise your wiring may be messed up like the speakers may not be wired to the right connections take it all out and give it another try thats all i can really think of

My eclipse has the infinity system ... talon does not. I'm trying to just put the infinity headunit into the talon because when I bought the talon it didn't come with a headunit because the kid wanted to keep it. The talon has no amps, so I'm trying to figure out how to get the infinity headunit to work in it.

ok i see that are you sure you have the connections from the speakers hooked up correctly cause i did that one time and it didnt play again im just trying to help

well how could they not be hooked up correctly? None of the wires were cut and I just plugged in the harness. I think it's not working because the headunit thinks there is a stock amp... but how do I make it work?

1.) Which head?

2.) If you need an amp, they can be had for about $20 off eBay, or the classifieds here. You'll also need the DIN cable to feed the amp. If you want the CD changer, you'll need to track it down as well, and its cable.

I'm installing a 1997 infinity headunit ( out of a gsx with a stock amp ) into a non turbo / non infinity 1995 talon. The plugs on the wires inside the cars that go into the headunit are identical so I figured just plug it in and it will work. However I get no sound ... I'd like to avoid buying and amp ... I'd rather just cross some wires or flip some around or whatever needs to be done just to make it work like a regular head unit with no additional amping.

dont our headunits require a code to make em work again once removed?...i dont have the infinity system but i got this security code layin right here..

As far as I know, yes, they have a security code. When I got my car, my head unit was doing the same thing (it was an Infinity,) so I just threw in my Pioneer. Afterwards, however, I found out that I needed the code.

I remember when I had to input my security code way back when, I had to get the code from a Mitsubishi dealer. I also remember once I put it in, I had to wait like an hour or so for it to reset and be capable of working.

Yes there is a code and I have the card. I put the code in already and the unit works .. just no sound.

Think of it this way. The factory amplifier in the infinity system is the brain of everything. With out it you will not get sound. You need to take the amp from the old car, put it into the new car, then hook up all speakers and headunit to the amp. If this is what you did, and it doesnt work then its a harness/wiring problem. They probably have different wiring configurations for the both of them. Hopefully that helps you, it seems like your speakers are not getting the power supply they need, which would be coming from your amp. When i installed an after market headunit into my car, i had shitty sound because everything was programmed to run out of the factory amp and not just the head unit, but i have fixed that now by bypassing the factory amp, installing a aftermarket amp , and some other stuff. Good luck :thumb: :talon:

alright I'm going to try and ditch the amp in the gsx and install it in the talon. Thanks for the help. :thumb:

That's only 4 plugs: both ends of the DIN cable, and the speaker/power harness onto the head unit and the amp. The wiring for the speakers/power is already in the car, the DIN cable probably won't be on a Talon. But it's a simple run from under the seat to the back of the radio.
