Has anyone noticed that after enough time the steering wheel loses its glossy finish and smooth feel in certain places (mostly where you hold it the most), and gets more of a rough and coarse feel to it? Anyone know how I can go about getting that smooth, glossy feel and appearance back? It doesn't bother me that much when driving, but just the fact that my steering wheel may never be shiny or smooth again makes me depressed :(

Is is the vinyl wheel, or leather? If it's leather, find a vinyl one. Or:

I'll never understand what the draw is for using leather in cars. The environment is far too harsh for it to last, and fake materials are much cheaper and longer-lived. Particularly on a steering wheel, where between the searing sun, heat, and caustic hand-sweat, the cheap junk used in cars just doesn't have a chance.

It is definitely the vinyl steering wheel. I really have no idea how I managed to rub all of the gloss off of the top of the wheel...

I know I can get a new wheel...I just would prefer to rub something on it to fix everything if that is possible ;).

a temporary solution to get the gloss back is just use armorall on it.

WARNING WARNING WARNING DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!!!

make sure to give alot of ample drying time if u do that, cuz the armorall will make the steering wheel very slipery. if u have a day where u dont have to go no where do it early in the morning and let it dry all day and night, if still slipery wipe with a paper towel to help a bit.
