im looking for a OBD 2 scanner to hook up to a computer and retrieve engine vitals through. I need it to be able to hook up to a laptop/standard pc (carpc) and give a readout of everything going on in the engine. soo far this is the best one ive seen http://www.scantool.net/screenshots_features.htm
Can anyone reccomend a scantool? also, does it display hp at the crank? thanks.

on ebay i have seen this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2484490801&category=43989 , will this work best or is there something better out there

I think I would buy something a little more specalized towards a DSM. Such as a PocketLogger altho those work with a Palm.

Um well there is DSMLink for PC but thats more of a tuning tool and sorta expensive.

Maybe some of the other 2G owners can help you more.

Personally I used PocketLogger and Palm and its totally designed for a DSM.

There is a free datalogger:

http://students.db.erau.edu/~szabafab/stein/

"If you have an OBD-II vehicle (2g DSM) you may acquire an OBD-II logger cable from Multiplex Engineering. It will be around $85. You want the T16-003 Connector with destination address 0x25 (or just tell them your using Hal Landry software). If you wish to use this adapter for a Laptop, all you need is a null modem cable"

Free software, $85 adapter... Can't beat that... many 2G owners are already using this... (search)

thats what i was looking for dave. thanks where do i mention clubdsm for the discount?
