Alright everyone...ive read all the threads pertaining to the 92-94 front conversion.....it seems that all the discussion is "which one is better" and im looking to actually do it. i have a complete '92 donor car and i just wanted to know what wiring differences i may run into and or setup differences. My car is a 90 tsi awd and like i said i want to swap to the 2b (92-94) front. So if anyone that has done this....could you help me out? thanks

You have a 1ga and want a 1gb -
foglight connectors - same
horn connectors - same
side markers - the 1ga has 2 side bulbs (if i remember right) and 1gb only has one
headlights - the 1ga has a huge connector the plugs into the light inside the popup. this connector can be cut off and replaced by the connector from the 1gb. they both have 4 wires going into them, if you have a service manual with wiring diagrams, you can easily find which wire goes to which color.

Thanks man i appreciate it. I was going to check that but i wanted to see if anyone has had a huge struggle with it, but it doesnt sound too bad.

Im also doing this conversion as well, except Im switching the rear taillights and bumper too. Are there any differences there? I heard that mounting the headlights is a biatch.

And 1ga's have one "turn signal light" one "headlight" and one "parking light". Im guessing the 1gb is the same? Are the connectors on the parking lights and turn signal lighs the same?

DSMKevan,

I dont konw if you still are doing the conversion, but yes the hardest part was mounting the headlights. The way i accomplished that was i took the mounting brackets off of the donor car by drilling out all the welds and then re-attaching them to my car. It wasnt a big deal, and the wiring is simple with a manual. i think there were three wires for both the headlight and turnsignal lights, and the corner markers were the same.

Everything except the lights are direct bolt on. With the lights you need the 2 brakets that they bolt into. Those will need to be welded.

i did it on my car, the whole conversion was quite easy, the only thing i had problems with were the fenders and thats because i bought some crappy fiberglass ones from ebay and they fit like shit, so instead i just shaved the side light off and made it wrap around the edge of my headlight, take a look at my gallery to see what i mean
