I am hooking up a new alarm to a car and I was wondering if all constant 12V inputs can be hooked up to the ignition harness?

But is it safe to hook up an alarm and possibly a radar detector onto the 12V+ that comes into the ignition? or would that require too much current?

Some alarms require you to hook up two seperate 12v power sources, like the one on the ignition and one right from the battery. You should hook up your radar detector to the accessory 12v that comes out of the ignition harness. That way, the radar detector will only be on when the car is on.
