New fog light mod?

I was looking at the vfaq and the fog light mod for the 1Gs. Thus allowing the fogs to come on regardless of other lights, and as long as the ignition was on. I was wondering how come we could not just find somethin under the dash that was ignition controlled, and run a jumper to the switch. Seems like that would send power to the relay ect.

The vfaq one says you run a jumper from the relay under the hood to the switch. Wouldn't doing it my way be shorter and faster? Or is there some short circut problem I am overlooking?

AH, at the bottom of this page it kinda proves my idea, but instead if jumping it with parking light power, use ignition power. So if for some reason I need to duck out and still see where I am going, I can without my tail lights.

But I wonder if this mod will allow me to use them with highbeams. I ave searched all over, but I think I will need to just try it out and see what happends. If ya guys have any info let me know

Nothing magic to it. To get the fogs on with the highs, just run a jumper from the ground tang of the fog light relay to ground. Make sure it's the terminal that is the ground for the relay coil, and not the power through the relay to the lights.
To get them to come on any other time, just decide what you want them wired through and jump to the power side of the relay coil directly. The danger is in leaving them on and draining the battery that way. If you run the jumper to the supply side of the foglight switch, you'll still be able to turn them off and on.

DO do I splice the ground, or just reground it? And how do I know what one it is?
