acura rsx taillight swap.

im thinkin about picking up a set of the acura nsx 02-up tail lights and modding them onto my car, then painting the center peice to match my car, any thoughts you guys have on this? any complications u can think of? When you buy the lights on ebay are they going to come with everything i need to mechanicaly make them work, cuz i know it doesnt say taillight asembly.
 
The second I read this I knew that the member registration date was gonna be vewry, very recent. I was right. *sigh*
If you really want to do it, just buy the tails, you wont need anything else but money and a body shop.

Worded beautifully. If you want to swap for any taillights, get the european amber-cornered tails. They are verrrrrrrrrrrry sexy. But hey, it's your car bro, do what you want. :thumb:
 
I want those. The european OEM lights are SWEET :) . I think they look great on the maroon eclipses(like mine). But they're too damn expensive :barf: .
 
oh yeah and booo on the nsx swap. wouldn't they be too big anyway? either way i still just don't get it :confused: ?????
 
NSX or RSX? Make up your mind...you mention both. And neither will flow right anyways. The only tails by honda I've seen look halfway decent are the S2000.

As for our stock lights, if they looked good so many people wouldn't bother painting the center piece and removing those retarded E C L I P S E letters. Once you do that, then they are tolerable. And all the Eclipses here in Japan have the amber-corner tail lights...which btw aren't there for aesthetics but because JDM cars are REQUIRED to have orange corner signals somewhere on the sides of every car. I think they're even worse than the US spec, but we're all entitled to our opinion.
 
i hate them on most colors. same as the amber sidemarkers. but i definitely like them on the maroon color.

I think they look great with the center piece and letters - the only ones i can like that belong to an other car is the supra tail lights with the clear LED conversion. Here's one i photoshopped a while back:

HAHA there is a eclipse that lives near me and it looks really badass all the way around the car until you get to the back where he has a RSX taillight conversion and it looks like crap! I didn't even take a picture of the car because that made it look horrible! Keep the Stock lights on! they look the best!
 
ahh I'm sick of these questions. Ok these conversions are usually ok with just all out show, but I don't get why people still want them. Usually you buy a car because you like how it looks, how it drives, handling, speed, etc. Any of the above. After that though, you start to throw on different pieces from other cars to throw on yours because you think it looks hot. Yes, conversions can be done right but a lot of them turn to sh*t. Supra tailights can look ok, but everyone uses them. Trucks, Cars, etc. they all use them now. You know what I've seen the reactions of fellow Supra owners, and well they hate how dsmers throw there tails on our cars. They know what supras look like, it's not tricking them for it to look like a supra. I'm sure that goes for the rest of the cars that you put on your car. But I know a lot of you don't try to make it look like another car but like the looks of them. I really don't have that big of a problem with it because it is your car, and if you like it then do it. But don't do it thinking your car is something it's not, and thinking your the first to do something like that because conversions are becoming to happen a lot. But yeah like I said before, who cares what everyone else says just do what you want, and what you like. I just would rather stay with what the car is supose to look like, since I don't have a problem with the rather stockness I have on the outside right now. I also think if you want to spend a few $k on a conversion then why bother? Since sometimes that's a waste of money when you get it back and it looks like ass. If I was you though I wouldn't do rsx tailights in a dsm, it might turn out like ass anyhow. If you like the taillights then why don't you sell your dsm or whatever and get yourself a rsx-s? .02

Anyway, I read Milkeyisback's profile and it says he wants "NOS, body kit, wheels, turbo, etc..." I'm thinking with all the money he spends on that conversion, he could pretty much have all of that. IMHO I think his car would look cooler with all that stuff instead of the RSX taillight conversion.
 
Forget all the complaints, get what YOU want, if you want to see what they look like, ask someone to photoshop them on for ya,

As for the european amber cornered tails, i think they make the car look like crap, it makes it look like the car is older than it is. (i still like altezzas)

true, but some of us also like cars because they aren't as common. I don't see hardly any gsx's - and not many dsms for that matter up here. I like that.. So if i have an eclipse that looks like no other, then even better. So for example, if i put rsx or supra tails on my car, that doesn't mean i like those lights way better and would rather have a supra.. it just means they look good also, but would be WAY custom.. different..

So as said, it's more important to do what you want. I just dissagree that some of us bought dsm's because we thought every aspect of them was perfect. Our cars come stock with high possibility of crankwalk, and i know some have done that conversion too ;)

You do realize that your turbo wing fits in that category right? The 97-99 OEM turbo wing was an emulation of the Supra wing when that fad was popular in the late 1990s. That's why a lot of places still call them Super-style or Supra-style.

Supra owners hated it back then when every car was throwing a super-style wing on the back. But wait a second...why do you give a shit was a Supra owner thinks anyway?
 
2GB's period are modeled after the MKIV supra. Look at our triangular side windows, same as the supra only pointed instead of rounded. Our wings as well. Our headlights look like flattened supra headlights. Our Interiors. The list goes on and on.
 
rsx tails belong on RSX's and CRXs where they complement the vehicles curves (or lack thereof) and proportions.

MK3 tails might be ok on a 1g.

on a 2g, well If you really want to be different do a Talon conversion/ Talons are generally scarcer than hens teeth and definately different!
Or cut and section your stock tails behind the lens itself and make them custom, while still keeping the factory proportions... maybe a seperate amber led strip for turns...

But that is my 2 cents.

oh and the RSX tails are almost 90 turn at the corner, which wont match the 2g, you'll have to french them in which would look like ass on anything not from the 50's (and looked like semi-acceptable ass on them)
 
im SOOOO sorry but putting honda crap on a DSM is embarrassing. Honda is complete weak sauce unless you spend the bills on an nsx, or s2000 etc. DSM is complete ownage of honda, if you want to do a convert, do something most people dont do that will still look sweet. Besides, map it out, almost anything honda as far as lights go arent even close to fitting on a DSM. If you wanna be truely unique, build your own tail lights - if it turns out even half way decent - you will earn everyones respect cuz you did it on your own.. at least i would... but these guys are right, it is YOUR CAR .. do what you think is best, not what we think.. good luck
