if the link doesnt work, copy and paste it into the address bar

the material is very black, and when its not in DIRECT light like it is in the pic, it is much darker. and about the zebra stripes, that would be lame... thats why i didnt do that. i guess alcantara is only good enough for aston martins and benz's right...

bwhauaaAhahaha!!

Thats GREAT!!

Kinda, not my style, but its so well done!!!

Install pics!

i would LOVE to see that in person.

they can hate on you man, but i think that shit is phat. you should get the black momo alacantara shift knob and matching boot. that would be ill.
ive already got a cf/black shift boot but i might try sewing the alcantara to make my own boot or attact it to the old one somehow. I got the material on ebay, from someone named carolinafarbrics or something to that effect. i dont care if some people dont like it, its not theirs haha. After i get all my panels painted black, fiberglass doors finished, black carpet, black steering wheel, system and possably seats installed, then ill post install pics :thumb:

my headliner and door inserts are done the same way.........

while some of you guys are talkin crap about his choice on material for his headliner, SPARCO, i repeat SPARCO makes seats completely covered in that material,

the SPARCO MILANOS

You have an intake in your floorboard. That is all.

LOL anyways I can't really tell from the pictures, but is that material kind of long? It looks pretty short as far as I can tell. Is there anything unique about tha material over anything else or does it just look nice? Sorry for the dumb questions but I am just curious.

the material itsself is very short
heres what the alcantara website said about it.

"Alcantara® is the registered trade mark of the new generation
ultra-microfibre textile, exclusively produced by ALCANTARA
S.p.A. Elegant and functional at the same time, it combines qualities
such as softness, refinement and richness of colour, added to
special features of stain resistance and ease of maintenance.
It can be used in innovative and prestigious ways in furnishings
(such as coverings for sofas, armchairs and upholstery in general)
in car upholstery, in fashion and in clothing accessories."

All WRC cars cover the dash in Alcantara... Do you know why??

Thats right it stops glare off the dash. So it can have a good purpose.

I think, that you should maybe bust guys that paint there car pink or lime green. What he's doing is more euro, so you guys would be clueless.

Thanks ;)

My brothers Audi s4 has alacantara throughout it, and it is very nice material. Alacantara is definitely not ricey, it is luxury to the max.... Anybody that thinks its ghetto just needs to have a sit in a seat covered in alacantara.

seriously, guys - let's drop the rude comments. Just because people like things you don't, doesn't mean you have to jump all over them. That's the cool thing about individuality.

Just because I don't like gunmetal rims, you think i should jump on every thread and say how retarded people are because gunmetal rims suck? No, because they don't suck - it's just my opinion that i don't like them.

So if you don't like Alcantara material, or z3 fenders, or altezza taillights - then great! but no need to fill the thread with useless, rude posts.

Chuckt, looks nice man. You got any during installation pics?

Deleted a bunch of hater posts.

I think it's look great :thumb:

I was wanting to do my headliner in a suede type of fabric. I was worried about the glue seaping through. What glue did you use?

We installed fabric (LOL, it was zebra! :p ) in my friends car and in one spot the glue seaped through and turned yellow. We had used the 3M stuff too????

i think this is the first thread that started with bad feedback and turned to good, thanks guys:) what i did to get the fabric to stick without the glue going through the material was first spray the stock headliner with glue (3m 80 strength) and let it dry. also spray a thin coat on the alcantara itsself. let it dry fully also. then after you have light coats on each material, when you put more glue on it, the glue wont soak into the material, it will sit on the thin coats you had already put on. unfortunately i dont have install pics yey, i still have to do the sunroof inserts and strip the rest of the interior and ill try to get pics.

I personally love alcantara, there are some Sparco Milanos that come in Tan that i have been jonsing for!.

I wonder about the insulation properties of it though? It is a fairly thick material, i wonder if it will retain more heat in the cabin? I know my black 2g gets hotter than my womans hot spot in the summer (but not nearly as wet OMG ) It will be interesting to see what (if any) difference it makes.

with me making my interior all black, its already going to be warm, but thats what sunroofs are for

alcantra owns...The IS seats come like that and its a very nice material. I personally think it would fit in perfect as a headliner. I personally dont like too much leather on an import

i jsut got the sunroof inserts out and realized i have JUST enough material to cover them with. I will post pics tomorrow of the inserts covered and possably everything installed

got and opinion question for you guys.

everything is going to be black from headliner to carpet. one other thing im thinking of covering in cloth is the side kick panels under the dash/center console. should i cover them in alcantara as well or just paint black. i think covering them would look really nice but dont know.

i say just paint em nice.....just doing the kickpanels and not the rest of the console IMO would look kinda halfassed. don't go overboard with the alcantra...what i would suggest and would really like to see is do that on the doorpanels on that little groove in the middle where the doorhandle just lies smack in the middle
