I said i would post when i got my hood on some people wanted to know about the quality. I ordered my hood from www.splittingimagez.com, its the S1 brand hood, oem style for 95-99. it was 350$ shipped (free shipping), didnt come with hoodpins but the guy on the phone said he would throw them in. well i got the hood with no pins, had to call 2 times the pins finally came they were crap aluminum ones and the pins had some corrosion on them so i said F it and ordered sparcos.

As far as hood quality i am very happy, had no shipping problems was packaged well and took it out of the box mint. this thing must weigh no more then 15lbs tops, super light. i put it on with 2 friends easy swap, stock latch lines right up, fits the body perfect.

I know this is pointless with no pics but im at work and just thought i would post now, I will snap some pics tonight and post them here so check back later. it looks super sexy!

Thanks for bringing this up. I've been looking for a hood, and I think I might have to go with one of these.

Is the hood duoblesided ? post some pics.

no there isnt CF under the hood, its a nice looking black fiberglass (im guessing its fiberglass), and like i said, tonight i will get some pics.

for 350$ youd be hardpressed to find a hood this nice

i cant post the other ones unless i resize em and im too lazy.. unless someone wants to host em

I agree with him to an extent, but don't get me wrong here, the hood looks nice. Just on that car, doesn't really match well.

First thing first, convert the body to 97-99 look/body kit, and proceed to lower the car. The hood @ $350 isn't exactly cheap, so just kinda confusing why someone would want to swap that out before working on the body of the car. By the time you get the car in shape, the hood may have some scratches, to me it would seem like one of the later things to do.

But yeah some nice close up shots would be very good. :)

PSSSHHHHHH

His car looks fine, just needs a drop IMO

Definitley needs a drop, other than that it looks good. :thumb:

yeah i know 95 bumpers are ghey but this is the only real exterior looks mod ive done. Im more into performance and id rather look slower then i really am, instead of havin a body kit and running 15s..

and about the hood, not sure about the UV coating. tomorrow at work i will resize and post the other pics. i have some other closer ones, the weave is really nice quality. also the underside had the "skeleton" like the oem one with the little compartments. also holes so you can mount the heat shielding on it too. i got silver sparco hoodpins in the mail... so ill have them on soon

PS anyone wanna photoshop my car dropped a little bit

Bah, keep the 95-96 look if you're staying stock. They're more rare these days and it's how the 2G was originally designed. Of course, I would rather throw on an ugly ass big-mouth kit before I'd go rental.

I find it ironic that the guy who suggests you convert to 97-99 before spending a lousy 350 on a hood is the same guy who wastes money putting a turbo on a N/T instead of buying a turbo DSM in the first place and modding from there.

Btw, looks good! :thumb:

I want one, but I wanna throw a Carbontrix vent on it. But someone said I could not cut the hood without making spidercracks, but i dunno

The NT car in my profile is one DSM, I happen to be getting another DSM, and so happens to be a GSX. So please don't accuse me of something I never said.

Anyway what I'm saying is IMO I would rather get a new bumpers + lights than get a carbon fiber hood, esp. if the car is red for example with a black hood, to me it doesn't appeal that much.

Now I'm not dogging on his hood, I think it's nice. But like I already said if it was me, I'd rather fix up the car first then do the hood (because again for me the 95-96 styling isn't appealing, but thats just me). And if I wanted to just do weight reduction, I would buy a used carbon fiber hood since I wouldn't care about the quality too much or the looks.

EDIT: my bad I actually never noticed I had the w/ turbo selected, LOL, gonna need to go and fix that

well if i got used bumpers that happened to be red (which is hard to find in good condition) they would be a diff color then my paint, i would need to get the whole car painted which alone is more then the hood.

bumpers + paint = 4 digit $$$$
CF hood = 350$

Just got mine on too, thought this would be the best place to post

its a ViS Evo CF, i like it a lot,

(had to get a new one because the hood latch failed and my hood came flying up @ 80mph)

Ya, sadly it seams all these hoods need hood pins. If not you are sitting on a time bomb

Nice evo hood, I was thinking of that one myself, but I'm also considering invader. Could you post a link to your gallery so I could see different angles? Also, is there supposed to be a gap between the hood and your front bumper?

Yeah, the gap is a thing I am working with, it looks worse in the pic than in real life, the latch didnt work (reason my hood flew up and smashed the winshield) so i had to take out the hood latch. The hood pins are the only thing holding it down now. The rings on the pins rusted tho, i hate it, anyone know where i could get good hood pins?

And as for the dif angles I dont have em yet in the gallery, ill take some this weekend and post them.
