can someone tell me who makes those tires with the stripes along the treads? also, how are they in terms of driving? are they good tires? thanks.

oh dear god... why? I don't think they're even produced anymore... too much hassel with jonny law. I think BF Goodrich was the manufacturer. Late 90s old news man.

i have seen them around here once or twice and i know there is nothing illegal about them, its just a different color along the tread of the tire. i mean, its no more illegal than having racing stripes on your car. i think they look cool.

They are called the BFGoodrich Scorchers. Most of the ricers have them. I personally wouldn't invest in them, but it is pretty cool being able to lay down a strip of a different color than black. As far as colors are concerned, if I remeber correctly they came in green, yellow, blue, red and orange. As far as performance wise, I don't know too much about them. They have a special rubber compound for the color to absorb in the liquid form of the rubber when they are making the tired

Funny you mentioned that...my friend had a SOHC Civic with them, but he admitted it was rice. Those tires come in blue, yellow, and red stripes. He had the red ones to match the car. No one's going to notice unless you park ricer style (wheels turned out) or you have a ton of space in your wells (which means you need to be worrying about springs instead).
Here's a pic.

well, no one around here has them and i like them for that, but i will admit, they are kinda rice. they arent too expensive either. my yokohama avids cost more, but they are also a wider tire...

They suck for performance. Strictly show tires. No traction whatsoever. My buddy got a set and put them on his 91 accord w/h22 + nos.

So I guess you're parked ricer style in your sig, huh?

It's annoying when people have to make up new forms of "rice" to make fun of someone.

HAHA... i used a bf goodrich scorcher tire to get my rebuilt motor back to my house in the bed of my truck... it's the only extra tire the guy had in his shop and that's about all that tire is good for. It has a yellow strip in it and it's SWEET..... ;) ....
