Yeah I'd like to know the same. Here's some on ebay I spotted that I thought were interesting...

Let us know guys which work the best for our cars and wheres the cheapest place to get them. Oh and also how diffcuilt they are to install, cause I'm planning on doing it myself.

PS: I think most of these alarms won't have a problem with a turbo timer right?

I got a black widow alarm from best buy for like 150 installed, im pretty happy with it, keyless entry and all

I got a cheap ass alarm/remote start combo off of ebay for like $50. I thought this was such a stellar move until it started phucking up on me a few weeks ago, constantly forgetting my remote. From this I have learned that the saying "you get what you pay for" also applies to me...

good luck, I'm looking for something by directed electronics also

Ohh yeah, as far as installing it goes, I would only recommend it if you have a good day to work on it or so, or if you have a secondary car. Otherwise you end up with a half installed alarm with panels removed and wires all over your pedals when you drive to work on Monday. :)

I suggest looking for an alarm that comes with starter disable. When the alarm is armed or is going off, the car will not start. Also get a backup battery, if someone wanted to simply disconnect your battery then the alarm will turn off. If you get a backup battery, then the alarm will keep on going off even if the main battery is disconnected.

Oh yeah as far as the compatibility with turbo timers, with mine I can't arm the car with it idling. So if you are late for class or something you have to wait until the car shuts off and then you can go ahead and arm the alarm. I've read into a fix for this but it requires some wiring which I know nothing about, just search for alarm and turbo timer. If you do just go ahead and lock the doors manually, remember that most alarms will unlock the doors when the car shuts off. Of course there is always ways to program it so that it doesn't do certain things but unless you specify to the installer, they won't do any of them (not at Bestbuy at least). Also I know there is something called Passive Arming which is when the alarm will arm automatically after the car is shut off for 5 seconds but I've heard stories of people leaving their keys in the car and it arming itself when it doesn't need to be armed.

I have a Blackwidow alarm but I want to upgrade to something else (with a pager) in the future. But for now the alarm is good enough. There is always other ways to maybe prevent your car from being "driven" away but not stolen, like remove the starter fuse or disconnect the fuel pump . Hey it works though.

i have a python responder alarm system, bought it at abc warehouse. $300 installed. comes with one 2-way remote. has remote start (for auto), keyless entry, etc... love the unit, being able to reach into your pocket, look at the remote, and know your car is locked, is great. ive put this alarm on 2 of my cars now, and dont see myself ever buying anything but an alarm with the 2 way feature.
