component sound system

ive seen some mounted above the stock speaker location right below the trim where the door handle is, dont know if you know what im talking bout. Its kinda hard to find a sweet spot on the 2g in my opinion

Talk to a audio shop to see where the typically mount the tweeter on a 2g, may give you some ideas. Some shops like to take photos of their work for their albums you might find some 2g's in there that you might be able to snag an idea from.

I have the crystal 6.5" component set with 1" dome tweeter in my 2g.

I was able to fit my 1" speaker between the end of the door handle and the vent on the door. It is a prefect fit, very stealthy, and nothing blocks the sound either.

If I can I will try to take a picture and post it up. But, it fits pretty damn good.

Yea I was kinda thinkin it would work there. I would like to see a pic of that if you have the time.....thanks guys.

i took out the factory dash speaker and custom mounted the tweeter under the factory metal grill. looks stock...but sure doesn't sound like it....;)

Oh yea, 99GST did you install that yourself?

Yes I did the install myself. I just used a Dremel and slowly dremelled out the circle. Its very easy to do.

I will try to get a picture, if I can, and post it up.

I have Alpine DDdrive 6.5" components in my car, I installed the tweeters and the midranges in the factory locations. They are not the loudest speakers on the market, but very clear. I was an installer at a custom shop for almost 2 years and I am MECP(mobile electronics certifaction program) certified, so if you need ideas for anything ask- that goes for anyone.....Later Corey

I flush mounted my tweeter in my polk momo system using the stock hole where the manual window lever used to be. I have a RS and put in power windows and door locks, and still have the hole left over. A little dremel work, and it fit in perfectly, and everyone thinks it's a custom job by some shop. The IDEAL position for me would've been closest to the door speaker itself as possible. Those Q form kick pods look pretty nice on paper but i never tried them myself. I just don't like mounting the tweeters too far away from the woofer/main driver because it causes separation of mids/lows and highs. I like a more natural sound blending but that's up to the individual. But, yeah, I hope you find a place that you're happy with both aesthetically and audibly.

FlamingWeasel, well said, most people dont know that. I mounted mine where I did because I am so burnt out on car audio I just wanted it done quickly.Later Corey

I installed Memphis MS8 8" components in mine. The midbass driver will fit in the door (remove plastic speaker mount and add a 5/8" spacer) and I installed the 1" tweeters in the speaker holes in the dash by using a piece of fake C/F. Sounds awesome!

here are the pics of my install: this is the best spot I could come up with. It is about 6 inches away from the 6.5" speaker, and these are no obtrusions blocking the sound....

Another place to try...harder to install...but something to lookinto....
the A-pillar. If you dont have a guage pod on there. I have done this in few cars...and it sounds great!!! Still put the mid-bass in the door, but the tweeter in the a-pillar.

This requires a bit of bondo work....

That is a neat idea, but there is one small issue there. For proper SQ you really want to keep the component within less that 1 foot of the driver speaker.

Otherwise, your SQ may be disrupted.

I used an angle mount bracket on top of the speaker grille, angled up and toward the center of the car, haven't hooked up the amp yet so I can't see how it sounds, I'll let you all know, it's extremely close to an optimal kick panel placement, and there are only 3 tiny holes in the speaker grille, barely noticeable.
