I am curious as to where the factory changer was located on the 2G Eclipses as well as any other workable locations other than under seat on back seat or in the little cubby hole on the passengers side of the trunk. I am planning on putting my sub in that recessed area, and thus will be relocating my changer elsewhere in preparation. Glove box is one location I have thought of, but I have never personally observed how one is mounted in that area on an Eclipse/Talon.

Pictures would be excellent.

The changer in question is a Clarion 6 disc which is one of the smaller changers.

Man that thing is enormous.

If you don't have the changer you have a little door there.
my changer can either sit upright just overthe top of the little door,
or horizontally an flush with the load floor (AWD load floor sits even with the little ridge seen in the front of the trunk in the carpeted pic) so it looks like nothing is there.

Any one have any custom changer installs they want to show off.

BTW the reason I was intereseted in Glovebox changer mounting was b/c the clarion DVD changer is the exact same connection and size and mounting as my CD changer. It would be a direct swap of unplug unscreew rescrew replug if I ever upgraded.

According to these guys, that cubby hole was the factory location. Glove box is a good idea, but its been done, How about modding the center console? Like putting the changer where the cup holder/ashtray is? Ive seen that done with HU's, so if your changer is small it might fit there. Or maybe under the rear decklid?

NO my changer isn't as small as a head unit, and those don't fit well in the console either.

I love where mine is now but I am going to need every bit of space for the sub as that is the best corner judging by my Basslink's performance. I would love to hve the sub wrap around the changer leaving it where it is for stealth reasons, but laid down it is a PITA to change cartridges as i have to scoot the spare over about 1/2 inch to change them out. And the enclosure would be better secured if it had a flat bottom.
Eventually I plan to have the DVD changer and I will be changing DVD's a Lot more than I change CDs.

Any one else have any IDeas.

I don't have a cargo cover or I might mount it there. It would be cool to have all the amps etc mounted on a fake decklid/cargo cover so that as you opened the hatch they would rotate forward into sight, but this is also a "family" car and between my sons car seat and needing to put in groceries etc that Idea is not practical for me. If it was a semi show car or it were a non family car though it could be a cool idea. make plexi rear amp covers and you could either see the amps from one side by folding the seat. or pop the hatch to see them from the other side, you could hide all the wiring by creating a flush trim piece for the amps, etc
Plus if you did your set up right you could pull the whole thing in a matter of minutes when it was time to go to the track.
put everything on it and all you would have to disconnect would be the battery fuse, unplug your ground and power wires from their distribution blocks, use a harness and reverse harness for all the speaker leads so they can unplug, and unplug the rcas and changer connector.
Say remove the majority of the system's weight in about 3-4 minutes
That would be real creative. I'd do it but I want a factory "decklid" for my car to hide everything.
However considering that everything could be hidden in that 2-3 inch thick vertical wall, it might not be such a bad idea after all.

However I have to replace my floor anyway...

I get what your talking about now. I have the same piece in my nt. If you didn't have AWD, you could get this stealthbox from JL Audio.

Maybe you could modify it? Looks like it takes up very little room.

Why does your changer sit so high? My stock changer is half the size and sits flush with the floor of the trunk. Also, my changer is different than yours. Yours looks like a Pioneer brand changer. I think mine is from Alpine.

That one is supposed to be a picture of a stock one.

There are both alpine and Pioneer aftermarket units that are using an adapter to run on the factory head.

I have neither mine is a clarion, its ony 7.5 deep by 2 inches high and I think about 9 wide, perfect fit, butI an looking for Ideas about where to move it to.
