i have some cathode bulbs and other fun stuff coming on monday and i need to figure out where to wire up my lights. is there a place in the fuse box or something? any help would be appriciated, especially if you have some pics!

i used to have some in my old car... i wired it to the power supply in the radio and had a switch rigged in the little ashtry by the radio... that way it would only come on with the car on... and in my old civic i wired it to my tail lights so it would turn on automatically when i turned my tail lights on

I would suggest staying away from wiring into the radio.

I set up a fused line off my battery. Jusy pick up one of those inline blade fuse things from Autozone. I ran 12ga. wire off my battery and through the firewall to my switch.

I then just spliced all my neons together and ran a single 18ga. wire for those to the switch, and did the same with a ground. When i did it the first time i was really sloppy with my wiring, and i just kinda stuffed it behind my kick panels. Make sure to do a real clean wiring job. Take your time and do it right the first time.

I used the cig lighter on mine.

does that have enough power going to it to power 4 12 inch lights though?

I'm not real sure, I have two 10 inch neons and my boost gauge hooked up to it and it works fine though.

if i hook them up there, then can i still rig them up to a switch? i have my boost gauge hooked up there and it's light goes on with my headlights... i want the ability to be able to turn these on even when my head lights arent on.

I'm not sure if it will power those neons with the cigarette lighter. You will need to up the amperage of the fuse if you add them there. You should also still be able to hook them up to a switch if you run a power wire off the cigarette power to the power on the switch, the same way you would do it if you ran it off the battery.

I personally think running a power line off the battery is the best way to do it. THat way if you decide to take the neons off at any time you can just pull that off the battery, remove the switches and the bulbs. IMO its the easiest way to do it.

I personally wired two under my dash, two in my doors, and one in my back hatch through the cig lighter and wired three switchs to them. it was a pain in the ass, but it works great and the fuse i believe is a 10a, i havent blown it yet. And its great cause if i forget to turn them off, they automatically turn off when the key is turned off--a feature that ihave grown to love because of how forgetful i am.

i was looking at my car and i found that the previous owner had put in a inline fuse, coming right off the battery. would it be worth it to find where this leads and put my neons on that?

That prob would be a good start, but i personally would inspect every part of the wire before i hooked anything up, even if it means taking it all out and reinstalling it. I personally had problems a truck i used to have, the wires rubbed on some metal and wore away the insulater, eventually causing a ground. Thats when i learned, WIRE LOOM WIRE LOOM WIRE LOOM!!! this is a must if installing anytype of aftermarket light, amp, sub, whatever, cause you could have a perfect insatall and have it screwed up by some little piece of metal.

Hey just go to autozone or pepboys and get the "add-a-fuse" thing. you put it in a empty fuse space and it has a wire were you connect your neons to.
