So I go to wash my 98 GS-T tonight, to get it ready for waxing tomorrow.
And I find that at some point in the last few days, the paint on the backside/bottom of the front fenderwells (on the plastic cladding) is peeling off in big strips, exposing the gray plastic underneath. It's like I splashed through acid or something. #*#&!^!!!!!!
So what would you do? I'm no do-it-yourselfer, I'm gonna take it somewhere for repainting.
But should I just get the whole dang car repainted then?
Overall, the paint itself is still pretty good. But there's a couple deep scratches in the door and lower cladding, and door dings on both sides. It's tempting to just have it ALL perfect again, rather than just fix trouble spots.
But I'm not spending 3-5 grand on a showroom finish, so we're prob talking Maaco. But... is it stupid to replace decent factory paint with a Maaco job? Would you just have the peeling and scratched places fixed?
Or would you just go for it and have it repainted black (it's red now)?
I'm also thinking about resale value in a couple years...
