How heavy is dynamat?

Hey guys. I was getting ready to dynamat my entire car out for my sound system when I picked up the box of dynamat and realized that its heavy as hell! I was planning on setting up my system so I can remove it whenever I go to the track, but you cant exactly remove dynamat and put it back on and what not.

So my question to you guys is about how much does dynamat weigh? I mean I dont want to add another 40 pounds to my car and then go do weight reduction. Do most of you guys with a system have your car dynamated? Or do you just leave it alone? Or do you just dynamat out your trunk and leave the rest alone?

well if it is forty lbs, it is 40 lbs. but this is what you need to consider:
Every 100lbs = .1 sec in the quarter
so in theory, if you run a 14.2, then you remove 1000 lbs, theoretically your new time will be a 13.2
so by adding forty pounds you will be .04 seconds slower than before

dynamat doesnt weigh enough to make a difference in you times....it is just really heavy when it is all rolled together in the package. Plus its not 40 pounds heavy anyway...maybe 15 or so...

yeah, not that much of a difference. i was just using the 40lb thing as an example. so 15 lbs = .015 seconds slower. not a measurable difference anyway

u need to decide if u want good sound and need lots of dynamt, get ready for a big weight gain, if u want a performance car, forget sound, simple as that
