schaving an LED

i read here earlier about schaving down an LED to make it fit. how would i do that?

i thought about heating up a razor blade or knife and just cutting through it. would that work?

how low and i go?

Make it fit where?

Perhaps you need a smaller LED.

It's possible to sand or turn down some of the plastic casing but they make them in various sizes. What color LED?

not sure whre. i'm planning on changing my hvac, cig ligter first. and i remember reading on an earleri thread about the LED not fitting.

i bought 50 of them w/ resistors off ebay. so they all one size and i'd rather not have to buy more.
