Does anyone have one in their DSM, 1st or 2nd gens. If you have any pics of them please post them or the link. I know I'm a freak, but I think that super-bright light with the blue-ish K-temp color really adds a lot of class to cars.

(please no posts of blue colored halogen bulbs though. Those things not only IMO look really cheap, but they have been proven to be not even as bright as the stock ones, yes ALL of the blue died halogens no matter what brand...etc.) Blue COLORED light has too short a wavelength to really reflect back mush light. HID blue-ish light is an entirely different thing.

I think Sylvania makes soem conversions. I know that you must use ballasts with the lights, and the fogs they have are about the brightenst on the market. They also include ballasts, but for a set of fogs, they will run you upwards of $400. Now I can't even imagine what the headlight conversions will run you. If you find cheap ones, chances are they don't have ballasts, so therefor will not be as powerful. IMO the money you will spend for the conversion, can be used elsewhere in mods. But to each his own. Good luck though.

look in summit racing they have a new section on sport compact mostly honda #@%#@%#@%#@% but they have a head light conversion kit for dsm's i dont see it on their sight but i saw it in their catolog, you can order one from summitracing.com if you want

i'm sorry but the HID conversion are crazy expensive just for some whiteish-blueish lights...you must have some serious money to blow.

The issue doesn't have much anything to do with the color or the light....It's about actual light output. 3200 lumens. 202,000 candlepower in the above kit.

And is a 1st gen Eclipse headlight H3, or H4 ? I can't remember...

i have a 5000K HID Kit in my eclipse.... and i also have one in my CBR.. it does so much in my bike... i can see now!! I have projector lights in the eclipse with the HID's... the projector lense really dims out the brightness...

So I should install this kit in my factory light housings? I figured projectors....while they look great, would screw up the beam pattern on my HID install. Is the 5000k kit the white/blueish or the purpleish one. I saw a navigator yersterday with the purple sorta kit, while it sounds lame, it actually looked pretty cool (just not for my car );)

I gota 8000k kit from Suprastore.com, extremely bright w/ a bit of a purplish tint to them. I have them in gen.2 projectors which take 9006.

Do those of you who have installed the hid conversion, how do your wires pass through the water-tight cap on the back of the headlight housings? And where did you mount the ballasts? Engine bay pics with your setup would be a big help. thanks

It should plug right up w/o a problem. As far as where to mount the 2 boxes, for the passenger side put them under your filter, plenty of room right there. The drivers side was a little more tricky, I had just enough roon next to my belt pulley near the power steering resv. Good Luck!!!

Bottom line, if you want the HID look, buy a kit. If you want the HID projection advantage, buy all the parts (ballast, bulbs and PROJECTOR HOUSING) to install in your current headlights. And yes, the aftermarket projector setups are not the same as the OEM HID units.

Oh, all HID Xenon kits have ballasts. If you don't get them then it is just a normal halogen bulb.
