ok dont flame me about use the search button......

i thought about there might be a new and easyer way to do it.........

so here is the age old question...... HOW DO I CLEAN MY HEADLIGHTS THAT HAVE TURNED YELLOW???????

where would i find this stuff at? i have never even heard of this stuff?

You can buy it at autozone checkers (kragen etc etc.) anywhere they sell car products and cleaners.. Walmart.. its everywhere... also you are going to want to clean them... alot and put some elbow grease in it... Because at first alot will come off then it gets alittle harder.. but its not that bad and worth it.:thumb:

What I did to clear up my lights, which where yellow and scratched, was take the headlight out. Then I wet sanded it with 2000 grit sandpaper then used some rubbing compond and then buffed it with some polish. Now my headlight looks accually decent.

well guys try the Mothers Mag Polish , i invested in some of that today and put it on , and it took alot of it off , i got tired of scrubbing , did it about 30 mins and got ALOT of it off , i think the other stuff might be inside the light cause about the last 6 mins of it , it was changing color anymore , just staying the same

but then again my arms were really tired , i was pushing so hard that i think i could of cracked it! LOL

really hard to do but worth it

Just keep scrubbing.. if you have a buffer you that.. it will be quicker..:thumb:

I plan on trying brake fluid. It takes paint/paint overspray off, dont see why it wouldnt take some yellow gunk off.

Ooof, I'd not try using brake fluid on plastic. Although the headlights will be thick enough it won't crumble them like it will some plastics (or, not soon anyway), it's just not a good thing.

Yes DO NOT...... if you didn't read that right DO NOT use break fluid on ANYTHING other than your break resevoir. Chemicals are made to be used for their sole purposes....

Now for your headlights. Go to WalMart and pick up a 20 dollar orbital buffer, not a highspeed buffer, but one that just shakes around and shit, they are like 20 bux. Then turn around (or look just above them usually) There should be a rubbing compound made by Turtle Wax, it comes in green and red containers. I use red, but I've also been very versed with waxes and polishes for 5+ years.... get the green. (not the wax but the rubbing compound) When you get home, put the bonet on the buffer, take a rag and get some of the compound on it and rub it onto the headlights by hand. Then take the buffer with the bonnet on it, put it on the headlight, and start buffing. It will take about 2 seconds to get a noticable difference. Then rub the excess compound off with a rag. Seal them with the same good wax (you do use good wax right) that you use on your paint. If you need help with the "what is good wax" question...... Zymol if you have a dark colored car, and Meguiars Mirror glaze yellow wax for any other color.

hey all
did a few searches on google and on these forums, and didn't find anything of much use, so i was hoping you could help. i've got a 94 eclipse, and the headlight covers are just a bit foggy or dirty looking... i took a quick look at the headlights a few mins ago and couldn't tell if the lense is supposed to come off or not... if it DOES come off, could anyone let me know how? i'd like to give cleaning the lenses a try...

also, the reason i care at all is because i was thinking about buying some of these...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2440144284&category=33710
those are 5800K... if anyone has any suggestions or any reason i shouldn't buy those, please let me know...

also, i've had my right foglight go twice within the few months that i've had my car.. the first time i just had the local mechanics fix it while they did some other work for me... but now i've been lookin at it.. and is just me, or is it a serious pain in the ass to replace a foglight? heh

thanks a lot for any help

no its not just you.. its a pain in the ass.. tell me about it LOL.. i just smashed mine in a small accident.. so i gotta manually rip out all the crap. I was wondering about that too ( cleaning the lense) for some reason i think the only way is to get a new one.. which is no biggy money wise.. and it looks ALOT cleaner.. keep in mind its not just dirty.. lots of little rock dings... PM me if you got any info! thankzzzzz

jah

not a big thing money wise? the one thing i found when searching google was a bunch of replacement headlight units for $205 a pop ($205 per passenger or driver side)
i thought that was quite extreme... what SHOULD they cost? LOL.. cause i was thinking that at first and was thinking maybe $50 for 2 :p

For lense cleaning, try one of the two methods in the Tech Articles section, or any of the dozens already posted.

Those bulbs are crap. Stay with Sylvania Silver Stars, Phillips, OSRAM or Bosch. Don't get any of the "bluish" gimmicks that come in a Power Rangers box.

My driver's side headlight had tiger stripes of fog. I used some Mopar's clear coat paint and it helped a little bit. It's good enough that I didn't buy a new headlight.
