3 subs

does anyone else think it's completely insane to put in 3 12" subs in the hatch? well it doesnt matter if it's sane or not, i'm just wondering if it's possible(not that i have that kind of money). i see alot of people with 3 10's but howbout 3 12's? for arguments sake, lets say these are audiobahn high excursions. http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-oBus9TZxAz4/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=67700&I=037AW1200Q&o=m&a=0

It could definately be done, but it might be a tight squeeze to fit in the hatch and not fold down the seats or anything. It could be done, though, I've actually thought about adding a 3rd sub to my setup a few times...

great. couldnt fold down the seats and use that space because thats where i would hypothetically put the amps. the set-up i'm making up is insane, and someone better lock me up if i ever go through with it. lets just say that there are still 2 other subs in the car aside from those 3 i'm sure someone rich has done something like it before but it's completely insane from my point of view. and i still cant really figure out a way to even out the mids and highs with all that bass.

JL's are the best subs...remember that. i have heard those audiobahn's before..they are ok i guess...i still prefer my JL 12 w6's

i hear very good things about JLs. i also hear they are expensive. but this is all hypothetical at the moment so i'll consider it always have to keep an open mind when it comes to car-related(and car audio) matters. sometimes things arent clear-cut. those w7's are lookin real nice and at 1000w each i bet they hit real good.

I have 3 12" MTX thunder 8000's in my trunk with amps mounted on the top and rear of bow and my CD changer is on that hump in between the rear seats and trunk. The box is not cuctom or anythingjust a bout your normal 5-5.5cu in. tripple sealed enclosure was a tight squeaze but feasible.

OH YA BABY! .. JL's rock.. heh i got 2 10w3's, with that new jl audio 250/1 amp.. and wow its loud, adn thats only exact half of what the speakers can handle.. i dunno why you would need 3 12" subs unless ur planning on going deaf in a couple years.. =D

jls are by far the best sub for the money... but not the "best" i have owned 2 brands of subs my whole life.... jl's and Orions....

1 orion 12" XTR PRO can handle constant 600 watt, 1200 watt peak.... not to mention some of orions amps put out 2400 watts... orion is a pure competition sub, rather expensive but WELL worth the money...

any other sub besides jl's and orions i have no respect for... by the way... go with w6's not w7's

not only is it hard to pick a good amp to support the wattage for one.. you have to get an amp that will match the subs ohms... besides i hear of w7's busting around here.. i've owned about 15 jl w6's in my time ... 10's 12's and 1 15"... and i've put wattage through them way past what they can handle.. and they've never busted or let me down...

thanks for the reccomendations i'm not planning on a 3 sub setup (mainly because i'm going to funnel all my income to my either 2.2 stroker 420A or perhaps a howell 420A aluminum racing block and turbo). due to my lack of funds i just opted for some kicker comp's i got at a very competitive price ($40 each still in the retail box). but now i do have a serious question, what would be an economic amp choice to give my 2 comps around 200rms @ 4ohms?

i like the orion amps but they are outrageously priced, if you can get your hands on an alpine v12 then your all good...

i dont like mtx subs but they're amps arent bad.....

i personally dont like JL amps except for the monoblocks (1 channel) means i would want 2 of them..

Yeah it can be done. Not easily by any means but can be done. Here is my DIY (3) 12W6 install. Also managed to fit a Rockford Power 800a2, a Rockford 1 farad cap, and a Blau DVD player.
