alt upgrade !!! (get rid of this crappy 65 amp)

ok well since my voltage drops really low just because of the stupid rear defrost... (drops down to like 13) and i have a stereo (which i have to mute every time my car idles) well... im sick of it i read somewhere that there is a 90 amp that bolts right onto our stock location. if you know what it is please let me know !! (off what car)
or if you know of anything bigger then the useless 65 amp alt (1g the 2gs have 75s wooo) please let me know !!!

and i dont wana spend $580 for the ohio generators one (140-160 amp)

get a 2Gb alt, mines 90 amp, that works good, you know what? I need a HUGE one, so i'll see if i can get some money together, talk to ohio generators and maybe get one of their monstrous ones that are 250's and sell you mine, hows that sound?

yeah i already got a price on the ohio gen for my car... 140-160 amp direct bolt on think it was like $580.

i do want like a 150 amp but even a 90 would do good now...

my buds got a 95 gst.. his is still only 75

so they changed the alts in 97 or what? and wou ld that bolt right onto my car or is it a different setup ?

Canadians have always been 90, and VR-4s were 90. I've never heard back what the Hyundais with the 4g63 have in them.

I was having a prob with my car and found out what it was. Stupid bolts on the alternator were broke off, So I just got a new alternator at the same time. Damn things are a bi*** yo change on a 420A

From the manual, it says that the automatic cars have a larger alt. I think the manuals have a 75, and a auto has a 90. I may be wrong, but that seems to be what it said. I could never find a larger alt that was less than 450, so I bought an extra drycell battery and mounted it in the car. Its a huge battery. Odessey pc1700. I had problems with voltage drop with my 2000w amp. I was told that some place makes brackets and harnesses to put a chevy alt on our cars. I will try to find the place.

There was a huge thread on this some time ago. I think you can get a 130 amp alt. for ~$200. I'll try to dig it up.

I am also interested in the chevy amp conversion though. I am not sure it would work with an O2 eliminator pipe. As is the pipe runs VERY close to the alt. I'll take some measurements of alt from my firebird if anyone is interested.

I remember seeing a 90 amp rebuilt in the classifieds for 80. There are a few places online that sells rebuilt 90 amp units too. I don't rmemeber the price but it wasn't $200.

well , what about the 2g turbo ? do they have one for a 95 turbo ? where can i get one ? Mine is good , but i need more with my upgrades.

why do you ask. if you go to a parts store and order a 90 amp you will get one. thats what i did. says 90 amp on it and works fine.
