so on my way back to Anchorage from Big Lake yesterday my Timing belt Shredded and wrapped itself around a cam gear. i haven't done the Damage assessment yet (aside from pulling off the upper timing cover) but I'm expecting the worst. I've already got a head and new valves lined up if i need them, and since pulling the head requires pulling the turbo I'll be putting on one of my 14b's and a better mani. I may do a DP too. anyone know roughly how much this is all gonna cost me?

Close to nothing if you do it urself, but if u want money for it I'll gladly purchase that other head off ## hands LOL. Good luck with it.

Thanks LOL. If i end up not needing the head I'll let my buddy that has it know that your interested.

Man that sucks, Hopefully the damage isnt that bad. Probably need valves at the least. I would take the head to ADB while you have it off and have them look it over. While your replacing the timing belt id replace all the timing components also. If you go with OEM part that almost $500 right there well with a waterpump. Your going to need a headgasket and coolent so theres another hundo. I know stanley quoted me like $1200 on the timing belt job. So doing the work yourself will save you big time. If your lucky you could just drop in a used head and just replace the belt and head gasket. Generic belts are like $60 Head gasket $30-40coolent $20. so $120 plus cost of a used head and you could be running. But i it were me id say only pull the head once and do it right and not skimp on replacing all the proper parts. If you need help with the timing belt LMK i can give you a hand if you need it. Good luck

I'm tossing around the idea of just rebuilding the whole motor, i've got some parts that are overdue to be put in anyways. so now is as good a time as any. AC machine is gonna get the head once its removed, I trust them more than ADB. I'm gonna do a Gates Belt with BSEK and new components too.

Go to Ac machine no matter what, adb will never see another dime from me!! Plus chris out there(Ac machine) has another head finished and ready to drop in. As far as the rest of the motor check out streettunedmotorsports.com they have killer prices and ship quick. I've ordered a ton from them and haven't let me down yet, plus they answer the phone when u call and will pretty much find anything u ask for. Good luck and hope this will help u.

P3ia............will have 2 dsm builds.....well thats if john decides to go built motor...my 2.3 stroker will be done through P3ia...but i'll be dropping the motor, clutch, tcase and 1g subframe in myself....and will be getting tuned by seth at P3...can't wait for this deployment to be over....

Yeah im leaning towards the build, and even though i cant really afford it its not gonna cost me much more to build the motor up some, I'm gonna go with 2g or evo 9 pistons, slightly built head, arp hardware, and upgrade a few parts (some thanks to you LOL injectors and such) and then the rest will come over time. id like to get roughly 300 whp and or a low 12 sec 1/4 mile. then of course my trans will die and ill be calling IPT for their built Auto Trans. I wish i had the money to do it now.

No problem...o believe in karma and paying forward...

I've got a set of 2g pistons/1g big rods ready to go if you want to go that route. $175 shipped

This...do it...heard this set up is money

Its gonna be stock-ish for the break in and then I'm gonna add more parts and go bigger turbo, cams, cam gears, FMIC, ECMlink, etc this winter. right now its being built with the 14b and 3" DP but the rest is pretty much stock. other than internals
